DNG files processed in CS3 and C1

When I started my digital Leica life with my DMR all of my RAW processing was done in Adobe Photoshop CS2. An elegant feature of the DNG file is that all corrections are stored in the DNG file, hence no requirement for an XMP file. I could copy the correct DNG file and paste it elsewhere and the corrections remained in tact. My only issue was the magenta colour issue compatibility of DNG and Photoshop RAW converter. Ironic as Adobe created the DNG format. Roll on to the M8 which was supplied with Capture one. Hey presto no magents problem.

I now use Capture one version 3.7 which now appears to generate a sub folder to save image corrections. The DNG files are now handled in a similar way to any other RAW file in that the corrections are not stored within it. I recently corrected DNG files on my laptop only to copy them to my home PC and find that they all required correcting again as the correction were not copied over.

Am I missing something or is this now a standard issue with Capture one?

Mark

Yes that is correct; C1 drops files all over the place. The best thing to do is to process your files to TIFF and either process them all the way or store them in a folder of your choice. You can then copy that folder.

C1 stores its image corrections in .cos files in a Capture One/Settings45 folder in the folder that the images are in (at least on the Mac using C1 4.6, which is what I use). Haven't tried this myself, but if you copy that Capture One directory as well as the DNGs, that might also move you settings.
