barjohn Posted January 22, 2009 Share #21 Â Posted January 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wilfredo, Â I am curious why you would start a thread for all of those whose M8 has been problem free and the first two posts in the thread, including yours, are people that have had problems? Then as you read through the thread you have all of these posters that ,..."Well I've had this or that minor problem..." Problem free should mean problem free, not I want to post here to support the camera even though I have had problems. The result is a meaningless thread because it is a mix of those that have been problem free and those that haven't.

glenerrolrd Posted January 22, 2009 Share #23  Posted January 22, 2009 Wilfredo  Just to clearify this as the "issue" is getting muddied by other M8 problems(some caused by users).......you are getting a "Card Full Message" . This is a specific type of lock up ..which I believe is caused by the new firmware. It may be in conjuction with card or battery issues ..but it didn t happen before the new firmware.  You can not clear this without "taking the card out" . I have not tried to reformat (losing the images to that point) ...rather I replace the card. This has not failed to clear the problem and I have not had a repeat of the failure in any shoot with any card.  If you have had this problem ..please comment. It will be too easy to discard this problem as (1)never heard of this before (2)must be your card (3)did you follow good practices..fresh battery, format in the camera (4) we you messing around deleting images in your camera(5) have you dropped your camera.   Thanks  Roger

I was just about to give-up on it when I finally got it to work, but it continues to give me the the Card is Locked! message when I turn it on. Then I have to start the fiddling again. If this is a firmware problem then Leica needs to get on the ball lightening fast to fix it because it is a major loss of time to be fiddling around with the camera when you need to shoot a picture. I am going to call Leica today and see what they say.
wilfredo Posted January 22, 2009 Author Share #26 Â Posted January 22, 2009 Back again. I spoke to Mark over at Leica in Allendale, N.J. He thinks it may be a mechanical issue with the card slot itself. So I am sending it in. Even though the warranty expired last month perhaps they will still honor it. I hope so. I don't like the idea of being without my M8.
