troyfreund Posted January 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 19, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone ever use the DMR mains adapter, part 14 452? I'm looking to track one down, but imagine it's probably pretty rare. I want to get the main adapter so that I can run my remote control on the camera through the night, without worrying about the battery dying. Currently, I get about 3 hours of remote firing out of a newly charged battery in the DMR.
Advertisement Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Hi troyfreund, Take a look here R8/DMR AC adapter?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
topoxforddoc Posted January 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 19, 2009 Troy, Frank Foster at Photo Design Studio (Untitled Document - tel +44 1272 870222) has one in stock at GBP57. Frank is a great bloke to deal with and they'll ship out the same day. I've bought loads from them and they're my preferred UK Leica Premier dealer (they're also usually the cheapest too). ihw Posted January 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 19, 2009 I bought a mains adapter from Photo Design Studio for use for school photography and events. It works very well. I fully endorse the remarks about Frank Foster in north Devon, UK. On the odd occasion I haven't been able to get to his shop he has mailed the item to me very quickly. troyfreund Posted January 19, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I just got a lead on one from my Leica rep. Thanks again! Troy
troyfreund Posted January 24, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted January 24, 2009 Well, I gotta admit, I'm a little disappointed here...I got my AC adapter today and there's no way I can use it. The AC adapter plugs into the same jack as the Intervalometer, so there's no way I can use them at the same time. This was the whole reason I wanted the AC adapter--so that I could run my intervalometer through a night's worth of picture-making! sigh. $125 down the tube....anybody want to buy an AC Adapter for the DMR? If not, you probably need to make up a Y cable. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can order the plugs from Binder-USA. The part number for the plug that goes into the DMR is: 711 1 99-0479-100-08 The female is: 711 1 99-0479-100-08 Subminiature Connectors Snap-In, Bayonet & Threaded Subminiature Connectors Snap-In, Bayonet & Threaded You would need two females and one male. If you do a search on this site, one of the Australian members posted the pin outs of the plug. Robert
troyfreund Posted January 24, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey Rob, thanks for the suggestions. I will have to look into that. Yes, I do have the Intervalometer already (and really dig it). Now I just have to make them work together somehow. Thanks for the leads on the connectors! troyfreund Posted February 23, 2009 Author Share #8 Posted February 23, 2009 Guess what guys? I found someone to make me a Intervalometer/AC Y-cable for my R8/DMR. Michael Bass, of Michael Bass Designs, created a y-cable for me and it works great! Check him out at Michael Bass Designs He's also come up with some inexpensive AC-adapters for the DMR (though I haven't tried them out). Here's a photo of my R8/DMR with the AC adapter and Intervalometer hooked up, via Bass' designed Y-box. Troy Welcome, dear visitor!
