stuny Posted January 16, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 16, 2009 Henri - It probably is Brembo since they do offer ceramic discs on some Audi models.
Doc Henry Posted January 16, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted January 16, 2009 Thank you Stuart for looking. I think so , but it's better for Audi to let the "Brembo" brand printed on its brake
stuny Posted January 17, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 17, 2009 Henri - You are no doubt correct, but perhaps due to ego so many of Brembo's customers seem to have them customized with their own brand name.
Doc Henry Posted January 17, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted January 17, 2009 Stuart, You are right, it's for business because it costs a lot of money if Audi do itself its brake In the beginning, Porsche let the "Brembo" printed : recently they are changing and do now like Audi Business and money the "two breasts" of modern economy (like we tell in France)

luigi bertolotti Posted February 18, 2009 Share #9 Posted February 18, 2009 Just for fun (I live not far from Brembo main factory)... the brand name is strictly related to its native area: you have Brembo river, coming down from Brembana valley in which you find Brembate, Brembilla and other small villages... USA road racer Posted March 10, 2009 Share #13 Posted March 10, 2009 Looks like the brakes from an Audi R8. They put these monsters on the VW TDI race series cars. I think they also went to 20" wheels with Michelin race radial tires on them. Saw them last April at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. I was involved in the driver selection process for that series. This year's selection will take place in California at either Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway)or Sears Point ( Infineon Raceway). USA road racer Posted March 11, 2009 Share #16 Posted March 11, 2009 The car pictured in the photo may be an A8. I meant the R8 ~ 2 seat sports coupe with 400BHP on hand. AWD and really fast, around 300 KPH+. Firebird isn't such a nice track. It does have a 1.6 mile road racing circuit combined with the 1/2 mile long drag strip. They don't care about anything there but drag racing. However, right next door is the famous Bob Bondurant School of Driving! He has built his own facility right next to the drag strip and by removing a few tire walls can then connect his track to the Firebird Road course. His track is too narrow to allow sanctioned racing on it. Too bad, that would be fun! We also have Phoenix International Raceway located on the west end of town. Features a 1 mile oval for Indy cars or NASCAR stock car racing. Using the infield road course, they feature a 1.54 mile road course. All in all, a much better facity than Firebird. Last but not least, there is AMP, Arizona Motor Sports Park. It is now defunct because of noise restrictions. I find that rather strange as the track property is just several hundred yards from the main runway at Luke Air Force Base. This is where you go to learn to fly & train in the F16 fighter jet!! It is the only training base for the F16. But I regress. This track was built by a friend of mine with his own private funds. Cost $8,000,000 to buy land and build it from scratch. 3 miles long. I can't remember the name of the English Gentleman who designed it, but he has done most of the new F1 tracks in Europe. Great place to race. Best track around as far as the racing facility was concerned. My club ran 3 events there then the County shut it down. And only 20 minutes from my home. Now, my friend uses it as a fun place to "test" his hot BMW's, Porsche's and several of his Ferrari's. Life sure is tough for some.

USA road racer Posted March 12, 2009 Share #19 Posted March 12, 2009 Doc Henry, I hope that your new track is built! But after being part of the Organizers & race operations for the USA F1 races in 1989~1991 in Phoenix, I really don't want to be connected with Bernie Ecclestone ever again! Everything you have ever heard about the man is true & then some. After the race left Phoenix and then appeared in Indianapolis, I chose NOT to be apart of those events. And now we have no F1 in the USA again. Worst part is now I can't go to Canada either as they too have lost their race. All that being said, an F1 race is one of the most fascinating places to take a camera in the world! The people, cars & colors cannot be duplicated anywhere! And being an Official, one can get to almost anywhere to take quality photos! Hope you get to attend an F1 event at the new facility! Best Wishes!
