morethanoneleica Posted January 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking to upgrade from a 3 year old dlux 2 to a dlux 4 whilst the special offer is on for the case and before existing retailers stock is replaced with the impact of higher cost Euro hit Dlux4s! ( i am in the uk) I am anxiuous that the d lux 4 titanium is approx 50% more thant he dlux4 standard, my question is in 3 years time, when I next upgrade what is the predicted de-valuation of each one? I think my dlux 2 is probably worth £200 now so a about 60% reduction... What is the history of other limited editons? and their value in time.. thanks
Advertisement Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hi morethanoneleica, Take a look here Dlux4 Titanium v Dlux 4 future value in 3 years. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

It has come to light that perhaps it's not all that limited. 2.) I think to be truly "limited" more than paint and a case is in order. 3.) It's a $900 camera. It might be worth a little more than a black one and a little bit more than a Panasonic LX3? 4. Take pictures, they have much more value (to you) in 3 years. Just my opinion... I could be wrong. jbm Posted January 11, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 11, 2009 I agree with all the above. I was quite excited about the D-Lux T when I first saw it, but I plan to use the Grip and Viewfinder both of which are black. Also there is still a $150 rebate here in the US and Canada until the end of January, so I orderd the D-Lux4 Black.
farnz Posted January 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted January 11, 2009 ... I think my dlux 2 is probably worth £200 now so a about 60% reduction... I traded my mint condition D-Lux2 boxed, complete and with the tan leather case for £150 on a D-Lux4 in a Leica dealership so you're probably looking at a private sale to get £200. I'm very happy that I did trade up though; I sometimes miss the 112 mm long end of the Vario-Elmarit but the 24 mm Vario-Summicron more than makes up for it. I've just started shooting HD video with it too (no video ever before) and I'm extremely impressed. Pete.
earleygallery Posted January 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 11, 2009 In 3 years time any difference in value will be marginal, and none of them will be worth a great deal such is the replacement cycle of the typical P&S digital cameras. Buy it to use it, not to worry about any possible future value, and pay the premium for the Titanium one if it takes your fancy, otherwise just go with the standard model. Pete. thanks for that which Leica dealer did you use, I will probably keep my Dlux 2 as it is not mint and I shoot in pretty harsh conditions, offshore on a yacht, so make just keep the dlux4 for land use.. I regret that it would be unfair on the Leica dealers who pay to advertise on this site for me to name the dealer. Sorry. Pete.

Pete. I have a D-Lux 3 in mint condition, boxed. Considering you got £150 for your DL2, how much might I expect to get for my DL3 in part exchange for a DL4 Titan? Firoze, My guess is as good (or bad ) as anyone's but I'd think you'd be looking at £150 to £200 depending on condition and the dealer concerned. Now that the D-Lux 4 has hit the streets I'd expect the resale value on earlier models to decline. Best of luck if you decide to do that and I hope you're pleasantly surprised! Pete.
