mobeyone Posted December 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Received my D2 yesterday, no obvious signs of work but the camera seems quieter and no magenta.. But... I took some photos and have noticed a difference in the quality. The photos seem soft and very noisy as well as just poor.. is it me? or could something have been missed when the sensor was replaced? I have tried shooting the same shots as before the camera went away and I am seeing a difference.. Any thoughts anyone?

mobeyone Posted December 20, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted December 20, 2008 Is this bad news then? there is also what looks like small specs on the inside of the lens??!! Gutted.
Overgaard Posted December 20, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2008 Not bad news. Just waste of time sending it back and forth. But it won't cost you anything, so that's how bad it is.
earleygallery Posted December 20, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 20, 2008 Obvious one....but...you have checked the settings haven't you? Specs of dust in the lens shouldn't be an issue, might have moved into view during transit, as I doubt they need to actually take the lens apart for sensor replacement. photogdave Posted December 20, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sent my LC1 to the local authorized Panasonic repair for an electronics fix. Panasonic is not offering the same kind of support as Leica for these cameras, but I did manage to arrange a deal with them to get the replacement part at no charge so I just had to pay the labour. When I got the camera back it did not focus properly so the images looked soft at first until I realized it was a problem with the AF. I sent the camera back to them and they told me it would need a new lens assembly for $700. I said B.S. and took it to a local repair place that fixed it for $200. Long story short, I wonder if your problem is similar to mine and that they somehow damaged the AF during the repair.
Overgaard Posted December 20, 2008 Share #8 Posted December 20, 2008 photogdave, You should have insisted. And so should any other out there if they have the DMC LC1. I let them have mine for 9 months and despite offers of repair for money, I just sat patiently waiting for them to read the text.
