In the UK Alsations or German Shepherds or Wolf dogs have had a reputation for unreliability when really stressed. I think this came from some unreliable cross breeding in the 1920s but unfortunately it has remained to a small degree. My greatest memory of an Alsation was an occasion when a farmer friend's Alsation, whilst on a pheasant shoot, had a fight with a dog fox in a swamp.
