VDB - that's a great photo and much the better for being in B&W in my opinion. In the UK Alsations or German Shepherds or Wolf dogs have had a reputation for unreliability when really stressed. I think this came from some unreliable cross breeding in the 1920s but unfortunately it has remained to a small degree. My greatest memory of an Alsation was an occasion when a farmer friend's Alsation, whilst on a pheasant shoot, had a fight with a dog fox in a swamp. It was an incredible sight which the Alsation won but it took about twenty minutes and the poor dog was exhausted at the end.
