It's a superb lens, don't hesitate!! I use it on a lllf so the image here is full frame. Good edge to edge sharpness and little distortion.

James, Maurizio,

thanks for the replies.

I know that there are variations... there is not really anything one can do but hope for the best...

I usually get them fro Robert White, no way of testing...

anyone who as positive thoughts about the lens?

I have read Sean Reid's review... it sounds very interesting...

I agree, excellent lens. I have never had any difficulty with my 7 CV lenses, they have all been great samples.

Dear Leica aficionados,

just to make sure, the new CV 25mm, M-bayonet, f4.0 VM Color Skopar P has normal rangefinder coupling and can be normal focussed on my M8 ?

Has anyone experience with the CV 25 compare to the new 24er f3,8 of Leica?

Thanks in advance ;)

Jens

yes! it can!

:D

no comparison made with the Leica for me.

But the lens is crispy and nice to work with.

Great value/performance in my HO.

No it isn't, coding you have to do yourself.

As for IR CUT filter (that's what you meant I guess) you can get a 486 made by B+W for the size.

Coding can be tricky or very easy, depending on the approach.

I coded mine using a thin adhesive white label.

Start palcing it on the 6bit code of another Leica lens, then 'frottage' on the code and on the curve of the bayonet. This way you get exact position of notches and you have the curvature as reference. Then you mark in black the notches for the 24 code, and you place the paper label in same position on the 25.

In same position as it was on the Leica lens. Easy to place one lens next to the other and using bayonet blades as refeence point.

Continue frotting on the label edge until you can tear off part of label in excess.

Nedless to say: use a soft wooden or plastic tool fro frotting

check in camera and see that it sees a 24mm lens.

you are coded

Hi,

Help a newbie out......IR filters > "CUT" <.....you do refer to circluar filters in metal rims, ie 46mm, yes?

Yes. There are two kinds of IR filters: IR Cut removes infrared light. IR Pass removes some (or all) non-infrared.

Here's an M8 pic taken without an IR Cut filter (on a warm day, Hawaii, Voigtlander 15mm lens):

Same place, same camera, same lens, but this time I remembered the filter (B+W IR/UV Cut Filter, btw):

i've had a few versions of this lens, all good examples, that i've traded and/or sold, but i always keep coming back to it. i have the current m-mount, coupled version, with the uvir filter that i use on my m8. a few months ago i posted some images which you can see here:

Guest Ming Rider

I had the mk2 version of this lens. Very pleased with it, which makes me wonder to this day why I sold it !? :-(

Mind you, I do have the CV35 f2.5 now to dull the pain :-)
