thompsonkirk Posted December 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 14, 2008 In my case the answer is no because all such images did need post-processing. I used the Elmarit for about 6 months & decided it was too contrasty for me. Almost any sort of cross-light needed the Photoshop ShadowHighlight treatment. lct Posted December 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 14, 2008 Has anyone got any unedited harsh slant light images from this lens they can post?... No film sorry. With digital (R-D1) highlights and shadows are recoverable at EV -1 but raw capture and a bit of PP are mandatory IMO. R-D1, 28/2.8 asph, EV -1, Capture 1 v. 4, no PP. Guest noah_addis Posted December 14, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 14, 2008 I sold mine too. Not because I was all that unhappy with the lens, but because I had two 28mm lenses and I use the 'cron much more. I picked up a used 24 instead. I shot this whole assignment with the M8 and 28 elmarit ASPH and was very happy with it.

delander † Posted December 14, 2008 Share #6 Posted December 14, 2008 The Elmarit 28 ASPH. Bought my copy with my M8 when they were really hard to get. Attached image shot in RAW processed in C1 using defaults. A quite demanding scene contrast wise, but actually much of the highlight detail is readily recovered in C1. This image shot at -0.66 ev, my standard setting on the M8 when used in auto exp mode The lens is very sharp. Shown to be contrasty compared to other 28s by Sean Reid but I like that and in the UK where we get a lot of cloud it could even be an advantage. Often thought of getting the 28 cron but it is double the price and bigger. Jeff
sbelyaev Posted December 14, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have never had problems with the contrast of this lens. See pictures. It is an excellent lens.
