leica007 Posted December 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Do you think that carrying already exposed and processed films can alter in chemical composition, colour or luminance if passed through various airport X-ray scanners? or is it perfectly safe to carry processed films in handbags? please advise/ share your experience. earleygallery Posted December 9, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2008 Agreed, totally safe. Although personally I'd pack them in my hand luggage, given the state some of my luggage has ended up in!! Indeed, I've yet to have a problem with unprocessed films and airport x rays.
stunsworth Posted December 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 9, 2008 Perfectly safe for you Steve......you don't use film:rolleyes: If the pope can give advice on marriage and birth control, I think I should be allowed to pontificate on film <grin>. Anyhow I'm determined to shoot some film in 2009.

Chuck Albertson Posted December 10, 2008 Share #8 Posted December 10, 2008 Perfectly safe, and for once you can put it in the checked in luggage. Film in carry-on bags is fine, but not in checked luggage---if they scan your checked bag, it's usually with something like a CAT scan, and it will fry your film. Even the airlines warn about that. Worse, your checked bag can be stolen/lost.

X rays won't fry film that's already been processed (as per the original question) but I agree about the risk of lost/stolen or just damaged luggage.
