darkness30 Posted October 13, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted October 13, 2006 Friends thanks for looking and kind comments. This was taken in Ankara (the capital city of Turkey) I was at my dads aparment on 9th floor. This whirling cloud was moving fast and afterwards released hail, wind and heavy rain for about an hour. No serious damage happened here but it was a scary show by mother nature. My dad said he saw some face resemblances in the clouds may be you can see too?? Thanks Mehmet
larry Posted October 13, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 13, 2006 Mehmet, Here in the Midwestern United States a cloud formation like this would have us scurrying to the basement because these sorts of storms often produce tornadoes. This is a great capture and really conveys the power of the storm. A very nice photo! Larry
christoph_d Posted October 13, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 13, 2006 Hello Mehmet, A picture that I find amazing and frightening at the same time. The dynamics - and power - of the clouds are excellently captured. I can't see any faces, but one feature appears to resemble the hand of god pointing to earth... Regards, C. darkness30 Posted October 14, 2006 Author Share #13 Posted October 14, 2006 Larry, Christoph thanks, its Gods wreath indeed. I was worried as well because i have seen several tornadoes while i was in USA and i know how it comes but this one hit the tall buildings and released its energy via hail, wind and heavy rain. richam Posted October 14, 2006 Share #14 Posted October 14, 2006 Mehmet, Amazing scene for Ankara. I lived there 9 years and never saw anything like that. What part of Ankara? GOP? Cankaya? Mike
darkness30 Posted October 14, 2006 Author Share #15 Posted October 14, 2006 Michael, this was at ORAN and yes i didnt see such things before around here, i guess global warming is catching up. What were you doing in Turkey Micheal? Hope you like your stay. Mehmet
semrich Posted October 14, 2006 Share #16 Posted October 14, 2006 Mehmet - It sure paid off for you this time having your camera close to hand. It is hard to find anything to add to what others have said already, this one is a real keeper. Given the comment about seeing a hand in the cloud brings your eye right to it, like it is pointing the way for some heavyduty "smiting".
richam Posted October 14, 2006 Share #17 Posted October 14, 2006 Michael, this was at ORAN and yes i didnt see such things before around here, i guess global warming is catching up. What were you doing in Turkey Micheal? Hope you like your stay. Mehmet Mehmet, ORAN of course. High altitude with a view over the whole city. I don't know about global warming, but I remember that the weather was quite variable from year to year. Sometimes, it was like living in several different climates. I was in Satellite Communications. Worked as installation manager and consultant throughtout Turkey, but mostly at the TT Udyu Haberlesme facilities about 20km south of Golbasi on the Konya road. Lived in Cankaya and later in Kucukesat. Had a great time and made many close friends. Mike

d-sr Posted October 15, 2006 Share #19 Posted October 15, 2006 That is at the very least a tornado cloud. You can see what is called the wall cloud above and to the left of what could be a actual funnel comming out of the lower cloud formation. Great capture Mehmet.
