thpeters Posted October 13, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted October 13, 2006 Hi Everybody, Thank you all for the great comment, several people ask me about my camera, it is the Panasonic DMC-LC1 with the Leica lens I have also the Digilux2. In the foto forum for people I have submitted also a portrait if you guys have time look at it, still both cameras are great. Now I am waiting for the M8. kld Posted October 14, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 14, 2006 A touch too much red IMHO, a flaw of the LC1's JPEG processing, corrigible by use of levels. Anyhow a very beautiful, atmospheric photo. -- Klaus
richam Posted October 14, 2006 Share #14 Posted October 14, 2006 Theo, Please forgive us for playing with your image and making a classroom exercice out of it. I'm a "tinkermaniac" as others on the forum will attest. Klaus, A good observation, but I thought I might check it out to be sure. I did the following to the image: 1. Opened in PS and called up "levels". Then took the middle eyedropper on the blue channel and clicked on the sky in the upper left of the image. 2. Ran up the saturation a bit with Fred Miranda's Velvia Vision. Anyway, here's the result. I like the upper left sky a bit better. The colors seem a bit more realistic without losing that essential "earthy" look of the original. Mike Welcome, dear visitor! kld Posted October 14, 2006 Share #15 Posted October 14, 2006 As the round now is already opened, here my version. In Gimp I applied levels to adjust colors, (based on my memories of landscape light) sharpened a touch, (no big effect on a downsized file) used curves to bring up the shadows a bit, (the LC1 is always under-exposes) used curves on the color channels to fine adjust the colors in the shadows. Theo, you are the only one who has seen the place, it is up to you to decide. I assume you not processed the photo at all, am I right? -- Klaus Welcome, dear visitor! thpeters Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #16 Posted October 15, 2006 Hello All of you who have touched my picture. I dont want to be rude............. But you don't touch others people work without asking first. right? It's like you see work from a sculpter and you change his work... I dont like the sharpening, the picture is sharp. then I dont like the changings at all, I was there and have seen the colors how it was at that moment. regards, Theo

I dont like the sharpening, the picture is sharp. then I dont like the changings at all, I was there and have seen the colors how it was at that moment. regards, Theo Theo, I've read the forum rules carefully, and I don't see anything about altering other's images. This has been done many times on this and the previous version of this forum, including images I posted. I agree that one should not change sculptures, photos, or other works of art on display. This forum is not a display case, however. I've always understood it's a place for learning and honest critique of one's work. If you wish to display your images for viewing only, you should do it somewhere else. Or, if you want a no-alteration, viewing-only rule, you could recommend it to the administrators. thpeters Posted October 16, 2006 Author Share #18 Posted October 16, 2006 Hi Richam, I like to stop this discussion about what is write or wrong to do with somebodies picture in this forum. Yes I post to share it with all of you, but changing it without asking!!! that is simple what I dont like. And if this is not in the rules, then the administrator should put in that as a new rule like: "Ask first permission from the photographer to allow to change it" My humble opinion. I am still eager to learn, and that after more then 40 years photography, whooow I am in shock now, that I do it for solong. But for all of you I keep smiling.............. Have all of you a nice shooting and enjoy and post. Regards,. Theo
