John Thawley Posted December 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I know many of you with early versions of the Digilux 2 probably ended up with "swirl" type scuff marks on the side of the top casing (around and above the lugs) from the clever plastic strap connectors on the Digilux 2 strap. I've actually been purchasing cameras looking for the least wear I can find. The one I'm using was not too bad... but, they were still there. Rummaging through my office drawer while cleaning up a Panasonic version I just got, I came across an old polishing cloth .... kind of a flea market type product. For some reason, I reached over and grabbed the Leica and gave the sides a quick rub. OMG... the marks literally "wiped" off. Like nothing.... they were gone and the side of the camera looks brand new. Now, I can't guarantee the same results for everyone... though this is an early serial number refurbished by Leica... it's the one I got from PopFlash... but, I was resolved to the fact it was marked. But, I've located the cloth online (and promptly ordered a package of three) LOL - It's worth a shot. I'm telling you they are GONE! Miracle Polishing And Cleaning Cloth . The original Miracle Cloth which has proven to out clean and polish any other product. JT

Overgaard Posted December 2, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2008 OMG! I just polished my wife with it and she's like when I met her, so now I can return her to her family. John, you're a terrible man :-)

Overgaard Posted December 2, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2008 I actually like that my Digilux 2 has some wear and tear, and in fact - I just checked - it's wearing into the metal. But I did try with my silver cleaning cloth (for gold lighters and silverware) with very little result on the surface marks, as well as my microfibre "diamond" cloth which I use for glasses. Very little change as well. But I can recommend using the microfibre diamond cloths for lenses, as well as surface. I often use it for the D2 screen, the lens, viewfinder and the camera silver surface so as to keep it nice and clean before shooting.

I don't know why... but this damn thing worked. After I did it, I wished I hadn't done it so fast so I could have documented it. I've got three on the way... one has your name on it Thorsten... I'm sending it your way. JT
Overgaard Posted December 2, 2008 Share #8 Posted December 2, 2008 As said. You're a terrible man :-) Reminds me a shot I saw of a - Danish I think - photographer who had build a thing so that he could use two M's a the same time for boxing events. I'll polish my D2's and document it. I'll polish my Danish wife and see if she looks posh when polish. Or whatever :-)
ravduc Posted December 10, 2008 Share #9 Posted December 10, 2008 Hello John, After reading your post I ordered one of those miracle cloths on Ebay and tried it on the first D2 that I had purchased which had some scuff marks on the sides, just like your camera. It wiped off those scuff marks as you mentioned. Quite the cloth! I would however recommend to anyone else using this, to be careful not to rub too hard. Thanks for letting us know about this. Marc Crazy, isn't it. I just got three in the mail too... as mine was quite old. One of three is off to Denmark so Thorsten can blog about it.
