Ko.Fe. Posted March 6, 2019 Share #21 Posted March 6, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) With all respect... This thread is something I was just thinking this morning after earlier realization that third service in five years of M4-2 ownership is needed. Stay CLE or back to earlier made... M4 and M4-P are not the same camera. Once you hold and use them for a while it is obvious. Where are three stages I'm aware of. Before ELC, ECL and M6. MP, M-A might be forth one, but where I'm, it is next to none of them. I like two most known ELC cameras for sentimental reasons, but they are not as good as before ELC. Difference is well described and available where Arne suggested it. It is not just gears and frames. And steel gears are in M4 as well.

edstock Posted March 6, 2019 Share #23 Posted March 6, 2019 I bought an M4-P anniversary. It had just been CLA'd by DAG so was basically a "new" camera, it had never been used. I like to use my 28-35-50-75 lenses. So it is nice having those frames in the VF. I did a little experimenting with the eyepiece. Wearing glasses I wanted to try and eliminate the need for those while using the camera. I wound up stacking a 1.25 magnifier first followed by a -2 diopter lens. It works fine, no glasses needed. The mechanism is smooth, the rangefinder is spot on, the M winder works perfectly. I mount either a MR light meter or a new model Voitlander meter in the hot shoe. I can't comment on the M4 as I have never had one.
