lct Posted November 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Elmarit-R 28/2.8 # 11259 compatibility with Canon 5D The current Elmarit-R 28/2.8 code number 11333 (serial number higher than 3,778,779) does not work with the Canon 5D because the mirror of the latter hits the rear element of the lens. Would you know if it does the same with the earlier Elmarit-R 28/2.8 code number 11259 (serial number between 3,664,831 and 3,778,779)? Thanks in advance. Advertisement Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Hi lct, Take a look here Elmarit-R 28/2.8 # 11259 compatibility with Canon 5D. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nbgronlie Posted November 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2008 I've tried this and it does the same with #11259, at least on my 5D. Neither Leica model number cleared my mirror. Some users have reported success on the 5D with one or the other new-style Elmarit 28/2.8 with built-in hood. However, it seems to be a roll of the dice and depends on tolerances in your particular 5D camera. Best regards, Neal

lct Posted December 23, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted December 23, 2008 Finally took the chance and ordered an early copy (serial # 3664*** from 1994) of the Elmarit-R 28/2.8 code # 11259 referred to above. Works perfectly with my presumably late (serial # 2921206***) Canon 5D. FWIW.
