mobeyone Posted November 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well.... I had feared this but today, my D2 died. I was out with the camera when my photos were becoming blurred and then I noticed a faint magenta tint to the image. By the time I got home it was all magenta. So, coupled with some blurred and striped images, my D2 is now added to the list of the dodgy sensor. Off to Leica it goes, I am sending in its original box but should I send in something bigger? Depressed.
Advertisement Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Hi mobeyone, Take a look here D2 goes purple. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted November 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2008 Don't be depressed - you are getting a nice new sensor for free!
Overgaard Posted November 20, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 20, 2008 And something like a CLA (they fixed my zoom on one for free plus added new rubber-eye for the viewfinder). You should box the box in a slightly bigger box.
ajthornbury Posted November 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted November 21, 2008 I sent mine back in its original box,(wrapped of course). D2 came back as good as new, it's really worth waiting for, mine was cleaned and refurbished.
elansprint72 Posted November 21, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 21, 2008 I was out with the camera when my photos were becoming blurred and then I noticed a faint magenta tint to the image. By the time I got home it was all magenta. Nothing to worry about; it is morphing into an M8. When it comes back it will be cleaned, refurbished and better than new. rsolomon Posted November 22, 2008 Share #7 Posted November 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mine went last week, drove over to Leica in NJ. they said they will replace the sensor. the top plate on mine has some maring from where the strap was touching the metal. i'm having a new top plate put on for $150. last year i had the rubber gripping around the body replaced. i feel like i will have a brand new camera. i was told to be sure to take the battery out ..whats the surprise ? See if they will also send you the leather protectors that sit on the strap and go over the lugs. It stops the swirl scuffs from getting on the body. This is something they started including in later shipments. They obviously realized the design flaw. JT
rsolomon Posted November 22, 2008 Share #10 Posted November 22, 2008 They mentioned the leather protectors to me, and they will be included. i wasn;t sure how it was going to work, it's on the strap ?
