Overgaard Posted November 9, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally I got time to update the design, a new section with tips and trick, and some of the more recent photos of my Leica Digilux 2 site. Have a look at leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Sites - Leica Digilux 2 sample photos and tests (as well as Panasonic DMC-LC1) where I've also added links to reportage stuff done with the Digilux 2. So there's plenty of stuff to look at for those interested. Which reminds me: When are we going to get a Digilux 2 sub-forum ;-)

atournas Posted November 9, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2008 Thank you for this D2 devoted website. It acts as if refueling life into the D2 legend amidst today's race of megapixels. What I value in your website is its professional character all through. In my opinion, thinking in terms of value for money, D2 is still the best digital camera Leica ever conceived and produced. The attached image is from a 774 X 444 cropping out of a 1920 X 2560 original, taken with a D2, hand-held and not post-processed. Paul Welcome, dear visitor! sdommin Posted November 9, 2008 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2008 Nice site. You should mention that 2mb SD cards are the largest the Digilux 2 can accept (unless I missed it somewhere).

lesh Posted November 9, 2008 Share #9 Posted November 9, 2008 Thorsten, Outstanding stuff - they are great cameras (D2/LC1) but in your hands the results reach another level. The website is super, already bookmarked, and here's another vote for a dedicated sub forum. If only Leica had further developed the concept with an updated version. But their failure to do that has arguably helped the cameras retain their value, particularly when compared with others of similar age. Les
audidudi Posted November 9, 2008 Share #10 Posted November 9, 2008 Panasonic by the way also have stabilizing system included in their edition - a system Leica have only first adopted in the Digilux 3, October 2006. Thanks for your page! I find what you've been able to do with these cameras amazing and I have returned to your site frequently over the years to renew my enthusiasm for them whenever it starts to wane and I begin to think it's time to finally replace them. I also enjoyed reading your Uber blog and was sorry when it went to the great website graveyard in the sky. That said, I am a bit puzzled by your comment, which I have quoted above, as I have a pair of LC1s in addition to my D2. Although I bought them used, they both came with sales receipts, so I know one was purchased shortly after they were released, presumably making it an early camera, and the other was purchased after the announcement they had been discontinued, presumably making it a late camera, and there is no "stabilizing system" on either of them that I've ever noticed. I have also disassembled all three of my cameras for servicing and/or various experiments (including converting one to IR-only operation) and their guts are physically identical, which suggests the only difference between the Leica and Panasonic versions (other than cosmetics) lies with their firmware programming. If it's not too much trouble, can you clarify what it is that you meant by your reference to a "stabilizing system"?

pleeson Posted November 11, 2008 Share #18 Posted November 11, 2008 Excellent website with a lot of great info. But, we need to remember that a large portion of the credit for the excellent photos goes to the person behind the camera!
storybrown Posted November 11, 2008 Share #19 Posted November 11, 2008 This is a great website, maybe the best Leica model website. Anyway, it seems too little to just say "one of the best," but it is certainly that. I've learned & am learning a lot from it -- and because I have to be told 3-4 times about any/everything before I get it for awhile, I will keep relearning from it, too . . . Overgaard Posted November 12, 2008 Author Share #20 Posted November 12, 2008 Wow, thanks. That's too much. I almost feel I got more votes than Obama ;-) I've been wanting to rewrite the text for a year or so, but now I'll just concentrate on adding the last bits. There's a VIDEO added today as well as one paragraph about using the D2 as learning camera. More will follow in the next few days about different details. And yes, the stabilization in DMC-LC1 is wrong. Don't know when or how that came into the text. I've even had one at one point. And I got an e-mail today from one reader who had bought a D2 as a result of the site. Oh, I'm bad for the financial crisis )
