I see merit both ways.

I have not had time to read through all of the vBulletin documentation, but if there is not a way to support viewing option modes for both, it should surely be a requested feature for a future version of the forum software.

For example, presented up front would be a hierarchical list display with all of the forums and nested sub forum. Selecting any listing returns a isolated display of only the threads contained within from all of the sub forums down and not above. Basically one click to enter either view.

Additionally, I think there should be a “Fight Club” forum and one for me titled “boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, boring, Geoff.”

Many people will have questions or doubts or comments on the new digi rangefinder camera.

Just like when we were waiting for and speculating about the M8, there'll be an overwhelming lot of threads about this cam in the next few months.

Separate these for the time being.

It'll be more complex to have to go to the second or third page to find your tread because it's been blown away by a multitude of M8 chit chat than to either just ignore it or go to the M8 forum to see all about it ;-)

Just athought.

For me the whole question is how fast I can get to what I want to read.

Having a small number of categories with lists of clear thread titles saves time. Waiting for categories to download is tedious. Looking through lists of threads in categories is efficient. I find there may be something interesting in any category, but having a large number of categories means I'm not going the take the time to search all categories.

The best innovation of the new format, for me, is being able to see the first few lines of a thread because thread titles are often uninformative.

I voted no.

Best,

Mitchell

I voted no, too.

Unless they want to make a Noct forum, too. :)

Let's let the hysteria die down a little. I'm guessing many of these people that have never lived with RF will discover macro isn't quite as easy and an M equivalent of a 180mm f2.8 'R' lens is a problem. We may end up with quite a few lightly used M8's for sale by people who jumped on the 'next big thing' bandwagon and found rangefinders aren't their cup of tea. For those of us who will want a 2nd M8 body(cheap! or at least soon) let's hope so! :)

My suggestion: Please use the new tags!

Instead of posting to a new Leica M8 forum, add "Leica M8" as tag of the thread.

All these threads will be visible at:

http://www.leica-camera-user.com/tags/index.php/leica%20m8/

Up to now there are only three threads I tagged "Leica M8"

Better example:

http://www.leica-camera-user.com/tags/index.php/dmr/

Regards

Andreas
