I've walked along the Canal many times, but never that early .. it looks very peaceful .

Those houses on the right, I am not sure whether I like them or not? I would love to see what they look inside.

They're part of Nicholas Grimshaw's Sainsburys development from 1988. I think the supermarket is a great success and I loved these houses when they were first complete but I think they are starting to age badly now. Age, not in an aesthetic sense but physically they aren't wearing well. Inside is interesting, if I remember correctly they've got a small double volume area and a mezzanine. They do tend to change hands for more than the normal square foot price in the neighbourhood - so some like them.

I agree they don't age very well ... ! Interesting what you say say about the price per square footage ... Next time I go pass them I need to look at the other side.

You're quite right about the internal layout Michael. I got the sale details of one not so very long ago. Regrettably the location is not right so we didn't view it, but IIRC the price was not out of line with the general area.

Guys

Thanks for the comments. I live very close by and when I got up on Thursday morning the sky was the most glorious red colour. I grabbed my camera because I knew exactly where I wanted to take the shot - which is on the bridge below Camden lock, next to Sainsbury's. I'd seen the possibilities a couple of days earlier.

Brian, I did not know the provenance of the buildings on the right of the shot, so thanks for that. I think they look futuristic but a bit out of place; although in a way which adds interest to the shot rather than detracts from it.

A lot of people like walking towards Regents Park on the canal from Camden but personally I think the walk from this point towards Kings Cross with all the developments going on at the moment is the most interesting.

Thanks for looking

LouisB
