JBA Posted October 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My C-Lux 2 has died. At first, I thought it was just the battery that had run down, but when I charged the battery and tried again, nothing. No response from the camera at all. Normally, I've been very careful to switch the camera to display mode so the lens will not pop out if it's switched on accidentally, but I forgot to do this and carried the camera around in my bag for quite a while. My theory is that it got switched on accidentally and the laboring servomotor ended up frying the camera's vital organs. I'd appreciate it if anybody could shed some light on this problem and whether it's reparable or I will need a new camera.

dugby Posted October 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2008 Sorry to read about your situation. However usually an unattended camera will switch to sleep mode after a period of inactivity. Check the following: 1) that the battery terminals are clean. 2) that the battery terminals are making contact with the connectors, you may need to push the battery in a little harder than usual, and attempt switch the camera on, whilst pushing against the battery (in the directions of the connectors). 3) test the battery with a volt meter to ensure that it's got more than the minimum required voltage. Some electronic products won't power up if the battery voltage doesn't exceed a minimum voltage threshold.....Therefore try a different battery if possible. 4) In the manual, is there a combination of buttons to perform a "hard" reset ? I apologise, if I'm stating the obvious to someone knowledgeable in such tests.
