Paul Edwards Posted October 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I have just read a reply on another thread about the Digital zoom on the digilux 3. I have had a D3 for about a year now and have seen the digital zoom in the menu but can,t seem to select it, when I move the bar to it, it just bypasses it. Am I doing something wrong ? Or missing something? I just thought it was a redundant feature on the menue.

elgenper Posted October 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2008 Don´t own the D 3, but if it´s like the Digilux 2 (or any other digital I´ve used), the digital zoom isn´t available when shooting raw, only for jpeg shooting.
farnz Posted October 23, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2008 I don't own a D3 either but I'd expect digital zoom to be available in picture review mode. Pete.

John Thawley Posted October 23, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks all for your helps your right it can only be used when using the screen I don't use screen so not much good for me but handy to know, Thank you. I'm sure others here would echo my advice, though... digital zoom is pretty much useless. You'd do MUCH better to upsize the image in post rather than generating artificial pixel information in the camera. Where optical zoom is actually magnifying your scene, digital zoom will be magnifying your image. Kind of like a close-up of your pixels. Not good.
