Overgaard Posted October 23, 2008 Share #21 Posted October 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Glad to hear it. I would check and continue to check MEISTER CAMERA Berlin: Home from where my friends get theirs and perhaps send an e-mail to meenken@meister-camera.com (Andreas Meenken) that you're looking for a near-mint D2. The price range is somewhat 500 Euro or below. It's a bargain. As for the one you have, both mine look worn out - and I kind of like it because I know what they went through to achieve that look ;-)

I will check with them... though a few did pop up overnight here in the states. I'm investigating. Meanwhile, for fun, I think I'm going to have the casing replaced by Leica and have the grip material replaced with leather... probably something with a bit of color. I'm sure I'll end up with a couple of these, so this one will be my "Sunday driver. " LOL Thorsten, thank you for the content on your web site. To be honest, I was originally admiring your photos and the natural "look" they had to them. It was only a few weeks later while investigating the Digilux 2 did I return to your site and realize the images I had amired were in fact, taken with the Digilux 2. So, in short... this is all your fault. Thank you again. John Thawley Already one of my favorite photos: (my 6 year-old) Welcome, dear visitor! audidudi Posted October 24, 2008 Share #23 Posted October 24, 2008 Thank you. I will check with them... though a few did pop up overnight here in the states. I'm investigating. You might also contact Tony at PopFlash, as he has been a good source for factory-reconditioned D2s and prices them quite attractively (For instance, I paid $677 for the one I bought from him this past summer and it looked nearly new.) Thorsten, thank you for the content on your web site. To be honest, I was originally admiring your photos and the natural "look" they had to them. So, in short... this is all your fault. I second this sentiment! Although, truth be told, he seems to achieve results with his D2s that are superior to the results I achieve with my D2 and pair of LC1s, happy as I am with them. dopey Posted January 16, 2011 Share #24 Posted January 16, 2011 Hi Everyone Ive had my DL2 for just over a week. This morning i walked down to the park and took 90mm F2.4 I have taken the same pic with my Sigma SD9 & 55mm F1.4. I love my Sigma for its Foveon sensor, but the richness of the DL2 lens is astonishing. Id need to spend on a Summilux have my Sigma mount changed to Leica for a similar richness. I agree, I also have an M8.2 w/28mm Lux and I still chose the D2 most of the time - go figure. You nailed it with the richness comment. The 'browns' in particulars are amazing. dopey Posted January 16, 2011 Share #26 Posted January 16, 2011 I never thought id want to part with my Sigma SD9. No Canikon, Solypen would make me part and no other Sigma either. But oh DL2.
dopey Posted January 19, 2011 Share #27 Posted January 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Im still hooked, yet i realized today the difficulty of DL2 handheld indoors in lowish light ... a preference of mine. This was daytime in a church, 90mm f2.4 ... to blur the pews behind the tassel. RAW 400 1/15 and 2 sec self timer ( to try to reduce pressing shutter movement). There was good light on the tassel as can be seen. Given the 2/3 sensor there is noise in the shadows as expected at iso400. This was the sharpest i got the tassel in 15 attempts on spot metering & macro focus, F2-2.4, 400 1/15 .. a few of which of which were 100 1/4 and one 400 1/30.. wda Posted January 19, 2011 Share #28 Posted January 19, 2011 Dopey, that tassel is impressive! You mention the noise; LR3 can reduce the effect without too much degradation of the sharpness. Worth trying, if the noise annoys you.

I think I'd give a shot at black and white before noise reduction. The highlights in the cord of the tassel are priceless... I wouldn't want to see the noise reduction smear them. The noise is multicolored... would probably become just nice grain as black and white. Tassle is tack sharp. Cool.

dopey Posted January 21, 2011 Share #31 Posted January 21, 2011 I never thought id want to part with my Sigma SD9. No Canikon, Solypen would make me part and no other Sigma either. But oh DL2. This late afternoon there was a storm brewing I took the DL2 & Sigma SD9. I think im gonna do hand stands flip backwards a gazillion times. I cant believe the DL2. That Lens ! That LENS !! THAT LENS !!! The Sigma is sharp (no AA filter of course) & it was paired with my Sigma Super wide II (24mm F2.8) which some reckon is sharper than the fabled Nikon 24mm F2.8. Well the DL2 trumped it every time. Im shaking my head at 100%. DL2 has either gotta have no AA filter or a really slight one. DL2 DR obviously isn't up to dlsr DR, but i don't care i don't shoot for DR. DL2 RES isn't up to dslr RES, but i dont care my photos aren't about RES. Im taken aback how organic DL2 makes the scene. Thats it i'm not bringing a heavy tripod anymore. Mirror slap, mirror up ... piffle. DL2 my baby with a little help from GIMP.

jrethorst Posted January 23, 2011 Share #34 Posted January 23, 2011 Pastels were nice this evening in Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico. I like the D2's color rendition. Welcome, dear visitor! dopey Posted January 23, 2011 Share #35 Posted January 23, 2011 Pastels were nice this evening. I like the D2's color rendition. Hi there Yes! It has that organicness. None of the digital sheen that i find off putting in too many p&s dslrs. The colours are neither overly punchy nor subdued, just right. The lens is not clinically harsh nor soft, just the right sharpness.
dopey Posted January 26, 2011 Share #36 Posted January 26, 2011 I never thought id want to part with my Sigma SD9. No Canikon, Solypen would make me part and no other Sigma either. But oh DL2. DL2 does sterling close work of fields ... makes me feel i am there. Proper landscape field, hills, meadows. my SD9 will be accompanying my DL2. dopey Posted February 17, 2011 Share #37 Posted February 17, 2011 I am taken aback by the colour accuracy. All the different colours, fading colours, subtle colours were captured to all intents and purposes exactly as i saw them.
JHAG Posted February 20, 2011 Share #38 Posted February 20, 2011 I have the D-Lux 3 for pocket-ware. For action... I have about $30K in Canon gear. The Digilux 2 and Digilux 3 are for my head. Now, especially the Digilux 2. I'm hoping Leica will bring it back to "new" condition and that the folks at CameraLeather.com Custom camera leather and leatherette can do something trick in the way of a nice genuine leather finish and maybe in different color than black. Paul Reading Posted March 11, 2011 Share #40 Posted March 11, 2011 It would have been nice if they could do a new version of the D2 with a modern sensor which could really take advantage of the lens. I really feel that the D2 lens is one of the best digital lenses on the market.I love the fact that it does not change size and all movement is within the lens, pity they couldn't fit a varient of it to the X1. Compare that to a Pen with its plastic lenses and so ugly when in use. As a D2 owner I am always amazed at how much this camera is loved, and I love it too, but doesn't a D-Lux5 produce better images?
