Yes, another camera bag thread :p

I'm in the market for a bag to hold a Digilux 2, R4s and 3 lenses (35, 50, 90 with the 50 probably attached). I'll probably have a few rolls of film, spare batteries and filters thrown in for good measure.

The reputation and durability of Billingham bags is appealing but I'm not really sure what size I need. Many people say the Billingham bags can hold an extraordinary amount of kit. However I would really prefer to have something that isn't too bulky. Would the Hadley Original fit the bill? It's a little difficult for me to decide considering I can't see the bags in the flesh or try them with my gear.

Any suggestions (or other options) would be greatly appreciated :)

I´m on my second Hadley Original now, and I have a Hadley Small as well, the latter used for just the Digilux 2 plus some non-photographic stuff.

One of my standard loads for the Originals was a R6 with 35, 90 and 180/4. That amount of gear pretty much filled it up, while still being very easy to work with. I didn´t own the Digilux 2 then, but I think it would have been quite difficult to squeeze one in, even if I had substituted the 50 for the 180. Today I use the Original for a Nikon D200 with a 17-55/2.8 with mounted shade. I would get another small lens like the 35/2 in beside it, but nothing more.

There is a Hadley Large as well; I haven´t seen one in the flesh. It might do the trick for you.

Billingham 225 - may be what you need.
I have recently bought a 225 for an M system- 2 bodies and 3 lenses. It might be a little large for your needs. The Billingham L2 Alice might fit the bill. And yes the build quality is superb and the carry is very comfortable

I think you'll find you need at least the 225.

I have the Hadley Pro (the 2nd largest Hadley). In it I have a Digilux 3, Olympus pancake 25mm, Olympus LS10 recorder and folding headphones and odds and ends (batteries and such), and it is pretty full.

I really don't think I could put your kit in it, not without stacking lenses on top of each other, something I try to avoid.

Sorry, you are quite right, I did not read the add properly. In the main compartment of my 225 I can get 2 M bodies- 3 lenses- -1 Weston Meter- 1 Sunpac flash gun. The front pockets hold 8 rolls of film. The zipped pocket adjacent to the main compartment holds filters, cable release and the like plus there is a separated pen slot. In the back zipped pocket I have a notebook.

In order to customised and make a perfect I pad out with off-cuts of Karrimat, the old camping mat you Dad might have used. I do stack my 35 and 50 lenses separated by Karrimat. Sorry I didn't read you right the first time
