Philippe Vandendriessche Posted September 29, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I'm trying to use my Digilux-2 connected (with the right settings) to my MacBook. The Leica USB Remote Control software OSX 10.4 version 1.2 is not working. Has someone an idea? The "Leica Digital Capture" for the M8 has also problems with that OSX 10.
Advertisement Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Hi Philippe Vandendriessche, Take a look here Mac OSX 10.5.5 and Leica USB remote control for Digilux-2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cbretteville Posted September 29, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2008 Phillipe, I'm sorry to say that it seems the newer OSX and Windows platforms will not be supported. For the M8, which as you know is a current camera, Leica has in the latest edition of their FAQ stated that "The remote control software Leica Digital Capture is not compatible with Vista and Mac OS 10.5. An updated version is currently not planned." This is a change from previous editions of the FAQ where the statement was that there was a new version on the works. As they will not to this for the M8, a Digilux 2 software update is highly improbable. - Carl PS: Welcome to the forum!
Philippe Vandendriessche Posted September 29, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted September 29, 2008 Thank you, Carl. Bad news... Fortunately (?) I have another notebook running XP... I had preferred tu use my beautifull MacBook but ... nothing is perfect ... except some of our pictures!!! It's my first post here. But I have some pictures on the Leica-M gallery (M8 kampagn). I'm very active in the french speaking "Summilux.net" forum. I have the Leica Minilux, M4-P, Digilux-2, M8 with Elmarit 28, Summilux 35 ASPH., Summilux 50 (1961), Summilux 75 and I dream at the new Summilux 21... camboychan Posted September 29, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 29, 2008 Hello Carl I pull the photos off the card on a USB Card reader into my MacBook, It is very quick and easy. As there are no software updates that I am aware you hopefully wont need to connect it for that. I use 2G Sandisk Extreme II cards - I have a couple of Ultra III cards but there is no difference in write speed as the camera has a limited write speed. I use Lightroom2 which sees the card and imports and archives pretty seamlessly. Good Luck! Good luck
andybarton Posted September 29, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 29, 2008 Transferring photos via a card reader (or even a tethered camera) isn't a problem, it's the remote control software that isn't being updated. That's something completely different.

jaapv Posted June 29, 2009 Share #9 Posted June 29, 2009 Not really, Leica nor Panasonic are doing any updates anymore. The only thing I can think of is to use a separate laptop with a compatible OS.
