andybarton Posted September 26, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 26, 2008 Does anyone know if this is a mule, or if it actually works?
mumu Posted September 26, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 26, 2008 Leica has a lot (may be 8 each) of Prototypes in Köln, which still works very perfekt... LG Reimar
andybarton Posted September 26, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 26, 2008 I saw a photo of the base of one of them (maybe that one above, who knows), and its serial number was indeed 0008 Good to know that they do work, though. Very encouraging.
stunsworth Posted September 26, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 26, 2008 There was a report on the LUG confirming that they were working cameras. Apparently there had been no problems with the firmware/electronics either - cameras locking up etc. - so the design looks to be stable.
Eoin Posted September 26, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 26, 2008 ...... - so the design looks to be stable. LOL, don't count you chickens until they hatch, the M8 looked stable until we got our hand on it.
dfarkas Posted September 26, 2008 Share #7 Posted September 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) As I posted, Leica brought 20 S2 cameras to the show. They all have worked without issue. David
guywalder Posted September 26, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 26, 2008 As I posted, Leica brought 20 S2 cameras to the show. They all have worked without issue. David Oh come on David, I know your excited about this, but really to try and make any statements about reliability and robustness at this stage is ridiculous. jeez they havnt even fixed the spec yet!!! The time for evaluating relaibility and robustness comes much later, and well after the initial euphoria has passed.....
peterv Posted September 26, 2008 Share #9 Posted September 26, 2008 IMO Mr. Farkas is not 'evaluating relaibility and robustnes'. He is merely stating that "Leica brought 20 S2 cameras to the show. They all have worked without issue." Please read carefully before you post.
stevelap Posted September 26, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 26, 2008 Oh come on David, I know your excited about this, but really to try and make any statements about reliability and robustness at this stage is ridiculous. jeez they havnt even fixed the spec yet!!! The time for evaluating relaibility and robustness comes much later, and well after the initial euphoria has passed..... I don't see that David spoke about robustness or reliability in his post? He simply said that the S2's he and others saw at photokina "...worked without issue".
guywalder Posted September 26, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 26, 2008 Please read carefully before you post. thanks for the advice , in turn I suggest you consider posts in the context in which they are made rather than in glorious isolation. David's comment, in the context of preceeding posts does constitute a comment on relability, just as Steve's and Eoin's do.... takes nothing away from his great show blog though

Than there was no need to quote David in particular. takes nothing away from his great show blog though Totally agree Cheers, Peter

stunsworth Posted September 26, 2008 Share #14 Posted September 26, 2008 I said the design looks to be stable. If you have any evidence to the contrary I'm only too pleased for you to post it. "Looks to be", as does "appears to be" implies a certain degree of caution. Of course we'll only know for certain how production copies perform once the camera has been released. There does seem to be a certain trend at the moment to undermine anything positive said about Leica's products. But then maybe I'm paranoid.
robsteve Posted September 26, 2008 Share #15 Posted September 26, 2008 Didn't them M8 demos hang during the last Photokina, with the battery needing to be removed to revive them. At the time I think they were blaming the SD cards. Robert

andybarton Posted September 26, 2008 Share #18 Posted September 26, 2008 I'd say the comment, a general one, is relevant to ANY thread.
sdai Posted September 26, 2008 Share #19 Posted September 26, 2008 There is someone called a beta tester ... it was all their fault, if they didn't tell Leica there was problem then what were suppose to be fixed? LOL
