A question about the S2

Does this mean that since the S2 and M8 will be their flagship cameras, Leica will become known as manufacturers of S&M cameras?

Point taken.

Even Lord Nelson only had one flagship, appropriately named the HMS Victory.

Dr Kaufman has relegated our beloved MP into second place and given the crown to the S2. :D

Well they do have a D range of cameras so that only leaves the B range to complete the set.

Louis

....now I come to think of it, how would I know this?

I'd never be able to afford it without a whip-round...

Bill

Thorsten -

They weren't talking about the S2. They were talking about going up to their hotel room.

ROTFLMAO . Geez Stuart, more of handcuffing us not to hit the buy button. Now if you are talking about all the models on our lighting workshop we just shot than maybe a different reason. LOL

Grip and grin, obviously you do not know what i shoot. I currently shoot a Phase One P25 Plus back with the Phase one body. I would certainly be very interested in the S2 if the specs are at the level that i need them. BTW since when did one say you can't do grip and grin with a MF camera. I do that also along with everything else.

I say Grip'n'Grin because I know precisely what you 'shoot'.

I also know what you shoot 'with. I also know what you shot with before - M8, and before that DMR and before that - Canon. Fortunately, the internet leaves the trail of your enthusiasm for the latest and greatest.

As for Grip'n'Grin, you must agree that 37 mpix is over the top, actually counter productive and financially wasteful.

Indeed, if I was to search your last 2000 threads on this Forum, most would be promoting your claim that the 10 mpix M8 completely satisfies your business needs. Having looked at your website, the lens tests that you shot, the family portraits and the conference photos, I can only agree that 10 mpix will meet all your needs. So, why the sudden urge to buy an S2 ??

That aside, anybody with the cash can buy and use what they want, but with your business brain and long experience at shooting your particular style of photography, you can't be surprised that someone would question why on earth you would need an S2.

Can you ?

btw, Guy, when are you upgrading to the S2? Looking forward to your testing the new system. ;)

I think you overstepped yourself here - there is a difference between poking fun at each other and attacking.. and you crossed it.. maybe its a culture thing, I don't know, but you seem intent on gunning for guy.

Lets face it, if there was nothing above 10mp would the world of photography stop.. no..

we don't really need more than that...just as I don't need a 60 usd bottle of Californian red wine, but man, I do appreciate the difference and if I can swing it I have it..

my suggestion is to back off the personal attack mode.

Paul, looking at your website, you're entitled to your $60 bottle of wine.

'Nuff said.

Larry,
