wilfredo Posted September 20, 2008 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My recently purchased M2 came with a very nice Leica leather case but the top part of the case seems to be permanently attached to the bottom part. I'm toying with the idea of breaking it off, but that would ruin it. I only really want the bottom part. Another option is to sell it on E-bay and find a case that is detachable, and then of course there is the Luigi option... ChadHahn Posted September 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2008 I took the case my Kiev came in into a shoe shop. (a place that fixes shoes not sells them) and had them take the two parts of the neverready case apart and put a snap fastener in. For only $5 or so I was able to walk around with only the bottom part of the case on the camera. When the time came to store it, I was able to join the two halves together and have a safe package for the camera. Of course with a Leica case, it might be more worth while to sell the case you have and buy a Luigi. I don't know what the resale value would be on an altered case. rickp13 Posted September 20, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2008 same solution here. a somewhat scruffy leica case for $10, and $3 to get the local shoe repair shop to replace the permanent rivet with a snap fastener. brown shoe polish did the rest of the "restoration". who said leica makes only luxury goods? cheers rick
wilfredo Posted September 20, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted September 20, 2008 Excellent idea. I've seen these vintage cases going for as much as $78.00 on E-bay. I can take it to a local shoe maker and have it done. Thanks, Wilfredo+ Benitez-Rivera Photography
