Hi,

I'm looking for a strap for my beautiful M3. After doing some research, I've almost decided to buy a Luigi leather strap (neckstrap), the one without shoulderpad.

But, I'd like to read opinions from Leica users that use these straps...

Do you think is the strap that better fits the M3 out there???

thanks

After using one for 12 months I don't think I'd bother buying another. It doesn't offer anything over the standard Leica strap IMHO, and his standard one is a little shorter than I'd like. But if you want a leather strap for the M3 go ahead, you won't be disappointed.

My M8, purchased second hand from the Buy & Sell that didn't come with a strap, so I purchased a Luigi Special Deluxe Strap in Rally with No Markings and the two leather protectors.

I also ordered one of Luigi's Convex Stainless Steel Soft Release in Black Paint. If you have ever thought about a soft release, consider ordering at the time you order your strap, so get free shipping. The release says mounted on my M8, and is nice finished in stainless (others are crafted from aluminum).

I needed the strap before a trip, so I specified FedEx, and the strap was delivered from Italy in less that 48 hours.

The strap is superb. If I had another body, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another in the same spec.

I have two of Luigi's straps, because I have two of his beautiful cases. I don't know if it is still the case, but he used to ship them free with cases in Europe. I can only echo what has already been said; they are beautifully made and really suit the Leica. I have one on my M2, and the other "floats" depending on my needs. The only other strap I have is the Leica neoprene one - different, but still good.

What I appreciate about the Luigi strap, apart from the craftsmanship, is the suppleness and the fact that it stays on your shoulder. I do agree with Steve - I am tall, and a couple of extra inches in length would be welcome. I know Luigi will do this to order, so consider your optimal length carefully if you are ordering a strap specifically - I am sure he will be happy to oblige. Luigi is a true gentleman, and it is a rare pleasure in this day and age to deal with someone who is both so enthusiastic and so prompt.

Regards,

Bill
