andybarton Posted August 27, 2008 Author Share #41 Posted August 27, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't expect to see mine before Christmas. There's bound to be a flurry of something to be done to Ms after Photokina, and I would expect my R8/DMR will be in a pile marked "Rs"
Advertisement Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hi andybarton, Take a look here R8/DMR on their way back to Solms. Again.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ddp Posted August 27, 2008 Share #42 Posted August 27, 2008 It's an uncomfortable truth for us M8 owners that people who have both the M8 and DMR tend to say the DMR files are better. Mark - even for those of us who don't own both, have noticed....

I have both and the DMR images still wow me sometimes. Robert
Overgaard Posted August 29, 2008 Share #44 Posted August 29, 2008 Andy. Actually, on the website there's an express service for equipment. I can't see if the price covers the express DHL service back, but it seem so. And in that case it's a very fair price. But I also think Leica has a "Pro service" policy. At least they should have. The express service page is here: Leica Camera AG - Service - Fast & Express Service Anyway, glued my DMR to my trusted R8 and it seem as if the backfocusing is not there on the R8. I actually prefer the R8 camera as the only difference for me is the annoying two-button on/off on the R9. Will have to run some more tests later today. But I kind of liked this "shot out in the blue" in my office from yesterday. It's Helena Christensen in the middle ;-) So just for aesthetics of it (80mm f/1.4 @ 4.0) Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted August 29, 2008 Author Share #45 Posted August 29, 2008 thanks for the link, Thorsten. I have asked Leica UK to include the express service Did you take the shot on the poster, too?
Overgaard Posted August 29, 2008 Share #46 Posted August 29, 2008 No, I didn't do the photo. But I bought it out of curiosity because I recently did a series "for" her. Only I forgot to shoot herself as we agreed to do it later, but then it was so confused that I skipped it.
dkCambridgeshire Posted August 29, 2008 Share #47 Posted August 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) After reading this thread I can see why the R6 and R62 command premium prices .. my R8 has been reliable so far and have had it 9 years ... and the motor drive and battery (later addition to the body) are OK too after a bad start when the battery and charger were replaced twice under warranty. Cheers dunk
