spylaw4 Posted August 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been looking into where us Londonites and other select visitors can meet up later in the year. The City looks promising for a December Saturday, and post-lunch those interested could then visit the Barbican Art Gallery to take in the Robert Capa exhibition (see my posting in "The Bar"). Just a preliminary announcement of a germ of an idea slowly coming to fruition.
Advertisement Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Hi spylaw4, Take a look here Next London meeting?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted August 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2008 Brian, I posted a thread about this exhibition a while back - definately up for that.
farnz Posted September 21, 2008 Share #3 Posted September 21, 2008 Yep, me too. Pete.
biglouis Posted September 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2008 Yes, definitely be interested in that - especially as I'd like to go to the exhibition but it would be a lot more interesting to share the experience with other photographers LouisB

Leitzmac Posted October 6, 2008 Share #7 Posted October 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Brian, Sounds like a great idea! I live in London, but have not been on the Forum that long, is anyone welcome or is it reserved for the Erfahrener Benutzer? I'd be delighted to get some tips from you all. Best,
spylaw4 Posted October 6, 2008 Author Share #8 Posted October 6, 2008 All are welcome - newcomers especially - we're a very friendly and approachable bunch! Keep an eye out here - once I get back from Krakow I'll be looking into it further, but it's likely to be Sat 29 Nov or Sat 13 Dec. Come to think of it, why don't those interested start to indicate which date they prefer? Hi Brian, Sounds like a great idea! I live in London, but have not been on the Forum that long, is anyone welcome or is it reserved for the Erfahrener Benutzer? I'd be delighted to get some tips from you all. farnz Posted October 6, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 6, 2008 I'm okay for either date at the moment, Brian, and I have no preference. Pete.
robert_parker Posted October 6, 2008 Share #10 Posted October 6, 2008 I'm happy with both dates too, probably the November one might be the preferred date if I was forced to choose
Leitzmac Posted October 7, 2008 Share #11 Posted October 7, 2008 Thanks Brian, At the moment either date is fine for me too, however that may change as I often get limited notice with work. Hope I'm around, would be good to shoot the breeze and catch the exhibition with some experienced leicaphiles. Has anybody heard the latest news on Capa's 'Falling Soldier', apparently the ICP in New York has determined that the soldier was shot on exercise, not in the heat of battle. Supposedly the ICP managed to get their hands on a suitcase full of negs (3500+ apparently) belonging to Capa and Seymour (supposedly through protracted negotiations with a Mexican general's kin!), the analysis of which indicated the above - seems they came to this judgement based on viewing the frames before and after the decisive one. Great picture and no less iconic following the revelation.
spylaw4 Posted October 7, 2008 Author Share #12 Posted October 7, 2008 Personally I would prefer the earlier date, even though the later is also ok. Things get more hectic as the dreaded Dec 25 approaches!
Douglasco Posted October 7, 2008 Share #13 Posted October 7, 2008 Would anyone mind a Brummie with an old Leica SL turning up

stunsworth Posted October 8, 2008 Share #18 Posted October 8, 2008 Depends upon whether we still have jobs. It's grim up north! I may be able to attend. Can't be certain yet, but either weekend should be ok.
farnz Posted October 8, 2008 Share #19 Posted October 8, 2008 Great news, Andy and Steve, it would be great if you could make it. I'll even stand you a pint (if you we can find something suitably palatable in this neck o' the woods! ). Pete.
