jplomley Posted August 19, 2008 Share #21 Posted August 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Get a Mamiya 7 if you want comparable image quality to the M8. If your going to go through the hassles of film expense, processing etc, you may as well make it worth the effort.
Advertisement Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hi jplomley, Take a look here I want to have a companion for my M8, which?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ndjambrose Posted August 20, 2008 Share #22 Posted August 20, 2008 If you want a film camera that feels pretty much the same as the M8 then get an M7.Same metering, same experience. But if you'd like something that complements it in a different way then get an M6 TTL, or even better an MP. FWIW, I have an MP which I use side by side with my M8. I love the combination of purely digital and purely mechanical; in my opinion it's the best of all worlds precisely because they're different, albeit in complementary ways. I've never been influenced by the "shutter speed goes the wrong way and you won't remember" argument. In my opinion, if you can drive a car then you already have enough mechanical and cognitive intelligence to adapt perfectly easily. It's really not difficult. mindlessdocumentation Posted August 20, 2008 Share #23 Posted August 20, 2008 Go for the MP - might as well have a photographic experience polar opposite to the M8
mikel Posted August 21, 2008 Share #24 Posted August 21, 2008 Companion or something different? For something different, how about a screwmount Leica with a scale-focused 35mm or 28mm lens and external finder?
0bli0 Posted August 22, 2008 Share #25 Posted August 22, 2008 i also say get the MP. regardless of which one you get (m6, m7, MP), you'll find it's a natural fit and good companion.
rocheung Posted August 22, 2008 Share #26 Posted August 22, 2008 M6. Maintaining your techniques not to be killed by digital. Reasonable price, work without batteries.
