Guest stnami Posted September 29, 2006 Share #21 Posted September 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I still reckon it is a pocket full of noise. I love that name makes me want to kick up the heels and dance down the street. Lets face it adding more pixels and a better LCD screen wasn't going to do much more than make more sales and as the rolling pebbles sang ( bless their geriatric hearts) Paint it Black
Advertisement Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Hi Guest stnami, Take a look here anyone going to upgrade from D-Lux 2 to 3?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JHAG Posted September 29, 2006 Share #22 Posted September 29, 2006 A 100 euros cheaper than D Lux 2, which I did not buy last year. I ordered my D Lux 3 and will have it at any time any place in my pocket Will be my pen notebook instant memory camera - a logbook in the making
Guest stnami Posted September 29, 2006 Share #23 Posted September 29, 2006 .... see snared another happy punter
JHAG Posted September 29, 2006 Share #24 Posted September 29, 2006 Why "snared", dear always cynical Imants ?
Guest stnami Posted September 29, 2006 Share #25 Posted September 29, 2006 .. Come on Johan Leica cares about the M8 and somewhat about the DMR, the rest is about advertising the brand and money, nothing wrong with that its a good move by Leica going into the open Handicap field race one The LX2 Stakes, but the gelding Sigma may be a late favourite
gepetto Posted September 30, 2006 Share #26 Posted September 30, 2006 Now imants the Sigma is only a figment with no release date. Should Johan ignore such a capable pocket camera as the D-LUX 3 in the mean time.
Guest stnami Posted September 30, 2006 Share #27 Posted September 30, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) .. depends on if he is a betting man. He didn't place any money on the mare's sister D-LUX 2, they tell me that they have very similiar form in their barrier trials
gepetto Posted September 30, 2006 Share #28 Posted September 30, 2006 Yes Johan saved his money for the D-LUX 3 the camera the D-LUX 2 should have been for him. SDHC support 16:9 LCD. He is even going to receive it at a discounted price. The Sigma is using an almost identical form factor to the LX12/DL23. The early mock ups of the Polaroid/Foveon cam sported a Ricoh lens. Funny the DP1 lacks all the GR digital tweaks like the optional view finder. Flash shoe.
Guest stnami Posted September 30, 2006 Share #29 Posted September 30, 2006 The DP1 will be patchy to say the least and there is a great chance that the colour will be all over the place and hard to tame but that's what is interesting
gepetto Posted September 30, 2006 Share #30 Posted September 30, 2006 The DP1 is what it is a compact camera with an APS sensor. But not just any sensor. I know people are not concerned with video but the DP1 has a 4.7MP 3 layer CMOS sensor. High end 3CCD video cameras use 1MP sensors. DP1 will not have the back end a high end 3CCD video cam has but it does have serious potential on many levels. The D-LUX 3 on the other hand will be in stores for sure. Guest stnami Posted September 30, 2006 Share #31 Posted September 30, 2006 It is reported that there are color accuracy issues with the Foveon as the silicon sensors do not render the colours properly ( I hear that blue skies chuck wobblies). I have my doubts if this has been fully addressed as have the colour bleeds at long exposures.
biglouis Posted September 30, 2006 Share #32 Posted September 30, 2006 I'm a little late to this discussion but as the D-LUX 2 is my only camera I have to say I do not feel a powerful urge to upgrade to the D-LUX 3. I get excellent results from the D-LUX 2 as I only ever shoot in RAW. If anything I am more drawn to the V-LUX or the Digilux 3 as a second camera rather than just replacing an existing workhorse with a version which is slightly tweaked. sdommin Posted September 30, 2006 Share #33 Posted September 30, 2006 ( I hear that blue skies chuck wobblies). Could someone translate this into English, please? Seriously, I have no idea what this means.
rob_x2004 Posted September 30, 2006 Share #34 Posted September 30, 2006 That the little bundle of noise shows smooth blue skies like they have gravel rash. My blue skies were fine but I shot them, well everything, 80ISO RAW
JHAG Posted September 30, 2006 Share #35 Posted September 30, 2006 Well, Imants sees a looooooooooot of things…
Guest stnami Posted September 30, 2006 Share #36 Posted September 30, 2006 It means that the foveon sensor has a tendancy to leave colour casts sometimes leaving the sky with a turquoise tinge or even too much magenta. This is not a great drama as the white balance can be altered and colour casts removed. For Sigma 10 users it was a right pain as it required extra processing, note the camera had no jpeg. Colour rendition is more capable than in bayer sensors, ie the transitions of hues are more subtle all should be rectified in the SLR model the point and shoot may still have a couple of splotches and blotches a bit like mange, gravel rash is due to luminousity especially in small sensors
jackart Posted October 1, 2006 Share #37 Posted October 1, 2006 I have a problem to decide, whitch is the right camera set for me. And there is no room for D-lux at all. I see, that one should have C-lux as "allways with me" cam and another should be "full-size". In my case it's Digilux 2. D-lux is too big to slip into jacket pocket and has too small sensor to produce hi quality shots as #1 cam. -Jaak
ptomsu Posted October 1, 2006 Share #38 Posted October 1, 2006 I will upgrade for sure :-)
philipotto Posted October 1, 2006 Share #39 Posted October 1, 2006 If I had the D-LUX2, I would surly be upgrading to the D-LUX3. As it is, I have the LC1, and will be upgrading to the M8, not the L1 or Digilux 3.
