michali Posted August 14, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) M8 TRI-ELMAR @ 50mm On my recent trip to Namibia I spent a day in Walvis Bay and went out with some fishermen. These seagulls were following the boat which had caught a large haul of sardines. The one gull suddenly swooped down and stole a sardine and I just managed to fire off 1 shot. It was a very foggy morning with very flat light, when I looked at the picture later it looked like the other gulls have been cloned in. The only post processing I did was to enhance the contrast and sharpen slightly. Thanks for viewing MIKE

stuny Posted August 14, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 14, 2008 Mike - Superb catch, composition, detail, light and color. Walvis Bay tends to be foggy and surprisingly cold most mornings.

carylwithay Posted August 16, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 16, 2008 Great. I would not have thought you could do that with the M8 and a 50mm. I have both the camera and lens so i am going to give it a try. Of course, i shall have to arrange for the bird to catch a fishLOL Caryl
michali Posted August 17, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted August 17, 2008 Caryl- Thank you. I've said this many times, I'm amazed at what the M8 can do. I also love the challenge of photographing wildlife with it, keeps life interesting, and it can be rewarding from time to time. MIKE
mschlapfer Posted September 1, 2008 Share #10 Posted September 1, 2008 It's been a while since I've visited here at LUF. Scrolling through some of the more recent threads I've run across several of your wildlife shots and considering your choice of kit (M8) I must say I'm pretty impressed. I fully understand when you speak of enjoying the challenge of photographing wildlife with, shall we say, an unorthodox system for such work. I enjoy mounting a D Lux 3 to my Leica televid once in a while and go digiscoping. Another sort of challenge but keeps the photography interest levels up. Nice work Mike! Guest Lotw Posted September 1, 2008 Share #11 Posted September 1, 2008 I like the transparency in the tailwing (if that's correct english). And that it is not so overly sharp as most Canon-birdshots. It's a bit Cyan but not disturbing
