Indeed it does

if true.. wouldn't that be the fastest 35mm lens ever made (in that focal length)?

it would quite big i would have thought unless they have been able to reduce due to aspherics and new lens technologies

Only yesterday my dealer (well known UK one) was telling me about a forthcoming F0.95 lens. He also said that new M8 firmware (with SDHC support) was imminent. I've known him long enough to suspect his information is good.

Personally, I'm not fussed about the truth of either rumour.

"Leica are working on a new concept, a small camera with high quality lenses some collapse to make it truly pocketable. It will use a new kind of format unique to Leica but based on 35mm, which may become THE standard for all such cameras in the future"

Cute, James. You caught me napping as well. But there's an obvious linkage: Of course it will set the standard for "all such" cameras in future, because by definition a camera which doesn't meet the standard isn't one of "such" cameras. :)

I think it's likely that SDHC firmware is in the immediate offing (finally).

But I always wonder what's going on when a reliable dealer has these rumors. When I worked with Leica US, we sales reps weren't given any insight into future product, and management kept quiet. Quite possible that some dealers or sales reps have developed their own contacts, of course.

And the rumors will fade quickly with the actual announcements.

Won't it be a first for Leica if the product announcements are made pre-photokina?

[Might we speculate that they, like Nikon with its D700 announcement, want to beat Canon to the punch? ]

By the number of comments on this thread in less than 24 hours, I can tell that readers want Leica rumors:)

Rumors sites cannot deliver new rumors every day starting with the first post. Like everything else it will take time to analyze our sources and start collecting some credible information. You will be surprised of the amount and quality of information we are now receiving at NikonRumors. Over time ,we will be able to accomplish the same results here. Yes, we did report on some old Leica rumors, but we have some catching up to do.

Someone mentioned that we are just following the news already reported on other sites. This is partially true, but in NikonRumos we were the first one to deliver on many rumors and most of them turned out to be true - the latest picture of Nikon D90 is a good example (of course we still do not know if it is the real deal). We do believe we were the first one to publish it. Of course many other sites picked on it, but if you look at the time stamps and follow the source links, they all go back to NR. Remember the Nikon D700? Just over a month ago very few readers believed this story and now photographers are already shooting with it.

Why we are saying all this? Just one reason/request: please be patient, don't judge a book by its cover and give us some time.

Thanks,

Good luck with your site.

As you say, the quality of your information and the reliability of your sources will be the key to its credibility.

The new Leica Rumors website is slowly catching up with what's been discussed here before:) .

Their latest post refers to the 'Leica Forum' meeting in Germany a couple of months ago that Andy and others attended, summarising Stefan Daniel's comments.

Not sure if that was intended to be a private meeting? Then again the publisher of that site could also be a long-term member here for all I know;) .

Of course we all know there is a Noctilux-R coming at the Photokina! ;)

( In fact Arsenal is selling one already! Photo Arsenal )

It wasn't a "public" meeting per-se, but it wasn't an "off the record" evening, either. Herr Daniel knew exactly who he was speaking to, and the nature of this site :)
