This is getting ridiculous

For what it's worth the S1 just seems to me to be someone's scan back with a lens attached. How hard was that to make? Several companies had scan backs for their cameras by 1998.

Kodak was the one that was ahead of its time:

Around 1998, I used the Kodak DCS 460 which was a 6 megapixel 1.3 crop camera. It was announced in March 1995. The 460 was a very nice and useful camera. It pretty much laid the foundation for modern hi res DSLRs even if it didn't have an LCD screen. The back was fully removable from the Nikon body. Nobody else had anything close back then.

By 1998 Kodak had the Canon based DCS 560 which is pretty similar to the later Canon 1D series cameras.

We didn't have color managed systems and I really didn't have a handle on how to process the raw files. So I probably didn't get the most out of the camera. Way back when (in technological time,) Kodak saw the future and it wasn't film.

It seems to me that if Leica is buying sensors from Kodak, they could also have bought all of the digital technology from Kodak's discontinued DCS line, updated it, and put it into their own bodies. What is Kodak doing with it?

Hey Dreamer,

I guess at the end you finally did get it. Congrats: If Leica does not offer anything for you - better look at some Pro-Company's offers. No need for moaning and no need for showing off your great management expertise any further.

By the way, you have no clue what kind of equipment I use. But in order to support you in your la-la-land prejudices, yes - besides others, I even own two Leica cameras with one of them having the red dot!

Best Regards to all of you!

Leicagator, I honestly don't care what equipment you use. I actually don't care anything, at all, about you. This isn't about you. Never was. Never will be.
