How do I add pix to the C-Lux 2 card while in camera?

Uh, oh, I'm in trouble with the bride.

 

I just got her a new C-Lux 2, and copied her pix to the computer and reformatted the card (so that the 15 pix of the 550 available she had taken wouldn't cause a problem -- I learn slowly).

 

So, she says to me, "This is now my album. Where are my pix, (insert appropriate nickname, here)?"

 

I am trying to copy pix from the computer to the camera and have tried the following unsuccessfully:

 

1. Format card in camera, insert into card reader, copy from pc to card, to the pic directory. This was successful, but the camera sees no images.

 

2. Format card in camera, connect camera to computer via usb umbilical, copy from pc to camera to the pic directory. This was successful and I can see the images on the camera from the computer. Again, the camera sees no images.

 

Are there any C-Lux 2 owners out there who have managed this Herculean task?

I have been successful moving pix from computer to card and seeing it in the Pana version of the C-Lux by placing the card in the card reader and dragging the photos in. However, that's true only with files you have not in any way processed.

Thanks, I'll try that. I copied them when I tested. I'll try tragging them. Windoze is a wonder.

 

I'll bet my M8 would run a lot faster using unix.

Give her the computer, too, (inserted appropriate nickname). You do learn slowly!

Maybe it knows which filenumbers to show? Take a few pics of a random object, note file names and location on the card. Rename the brides files to match these names and drag the files onto the card and select "replace? yes to all". This might fool the camera to see the files.

 

If it does not work you are dead meat. It was fun to know you.

 

NOTE are you sure you see all the files on the card (also hidden & system)? This can be set via folder properties. Also check file properties match whatever the camera expects to find (e.g. not hidden or read only?)

I have tried everything except the last suggestion, so far. And still no luck.

 

I'm giong to email Leica support as well.

 

And ... still not out of the woods with the bride. Sigh.

I think so, Andy. There are both misc and dcim folders, but I tried to be careful.

I'll reverify. If I've screwed up I'm clearly going to tell the bride that altho it was really hard, I finally figured it out.

 

Man, if I did that I'm gonna have to turn in my union card!

As a 'lifesaver', could you make large prints from the files and shoot them again with the C-Lux 2? Clunky, I know, but you would at least have those pics back in the camera and the rolling pin back in the kitchen drawer ...

Out of curiosity, I just tried doing this will all five of my PanaLeica cameras -- a C-Lux1, DMC-FX01, Digilux 2, DMC-LC1, and DMC-L1 -- and in each case, so long as the file name wasn't altered (or altered but still followed the naming convention; i.e., I changed the file number), I could move the images back and forth between the camera and computer with no problem viewing them on either. Even more interesting, in the case of cameras that were essentially cosmetic twins (i.e., the C-Lux1 and FX01, and the LC1 and D2), I was able to view files written on one camera using the other.

 

As such, I'm not sure what to say here, as your problem doesn't exist with any of my cameras. Were the file names altered or ??? when you moved them? Strange.
