earleygallery Posted June 30, 2008 Share #22 Posted June 30, 2008 I'm with you on this one Jimmy, I bet they all drive porches and have small d***s Penny, I'd like to see anyone driving a porch. Have you ever seen that? No need for the abusive/personal tone of your post - its not good forum manners now is it?
earleygallery Posted June 30, 2008 Share #23 Posted June 30, 2008 Believe me, I don't give a handful of snot how you people dress up your Leica's. Really? You seem to care a great deal! FWIW I don't use a bespoke case, I use a small bag - 'manbag' - which protects the camera when out and about and doesn't look like a camera bag. It cost me about 10 euros when I bought it on holiday. erl Posted June 30, 2008 Share #25 Posted June 30, 2008 O.K. "Guys and Dolls" (to quote the well know musical show), if one thing gets up my nose it is getting up in the morning and being greeted by this crazy verbage I find in this thread. I have not read it all, I have a life, but my job here is to stabilize if possible. My take on this is that there is a principle stirrer who will hear from me via PM. Those of us who are offended by certain aspects and comments please hold your dignity and allow my efforts to cool the heat. Remember, any opinion is permitted and welcome. There is no obligation to agree with it. You may put an alternative POV, but personal abuse in any guise will be treated with banning if it persists. I give no quarter and make no explanations for consequences. I just do it. There, I think that is clear. Now get back to taking pictures, using the camera case of your choice, secure in the comfort that maybe no one else does it as well as you can. ogrove Posted July 1, 2008 Share #27 Posted July 1, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anybody still use the black soft leather original benser cases and the leather neck strap ? All of the M Leica cameras fit also the Leicaflex and SL cameras, In the 1960s and 1970s Popular Photography magazine the were advertised often ,I use one for a M2 and find it excellant . ogrove
leitz_not_leica Posted July 1, 2008 Share #28 Posted July 1, 2008 I'm with Jimmy. The bottom half doesn't need protecting, the top half does. The case just adds more steps to film changing. I know that I pay 3X for a Leica than other brands...what are they? But the case has no function that I can think of. I paid less than half for a Swiss made Bally leather wardrobe (whatever you call the thing. You put suits inside and fold it in half for travel. EVERYONE from the counter to the gate loves it.) at an estate sale. Believe me, Luigi's case is no where near the quality of this item.
mongrelnomad Posted July 1, 2008 Share #29 Posted July 1, 2008 Another vote here for Luigi. Not only is he the perfect gentleman, his cases are quite simply exquisite. I have four for my Ms: A brown crocodile half-case for my MP-3 with Leicavit and cutout. A green ostrich half-case or my M7 A 'rally' half-case for my MP An 'aged brown' for my M8 Each that I bought was more beautiful than the last, and Luigi made the top two to order in two weeks. Each arrived with a 'present', and a wonderful thank-you note - as if the gorgeous cases weren't present enough! It is not often you get handmade craftsmanship like his - I would even go so far as to say they are somewhat of a bargain.

kenneth Posted July 1, 2008 Author Share #34 Posted July 1, 2008 Well, that was exciting wasn't it?- Firstly I am surprised at Penny, I would have expected her to weight in heavily on the side of expensive bags given the fascination alot of women have for that accessory. And thank you to everyone else for your contributions. In the final analysis I am sort of swayed to go slightly in Jimmy's direction of practicality over presentation and just use the Leica neoprene case I bought from TCC when I bought my M6 and placing it inside a Mulberry Aston Shoulder Bag which works particularly well- Mulberry - Luxury English Fashion
Guest jimmy pro Posted July 1, 2008 Share #35 Posted July 1, 2008 cases are quite simply exquisite....brown crocodile... green ostrich...Each that I bought was more beautiful than the last...gorgeous cases... Here's a guy whose honest with himself and the world. His reasons for buying the Luigi are clear. Nothing to be ashamed about, no reason to make up bizarre excuses like Leica's own cases don't fit as good. That's all I was saying. I am surprised at Penny, I would have expected her to weight in heavily on the side of expensive bags given the fascination alot of women have for that accessory. I dunno Ken, I think equal number of men and women are into fashion, it's just that men seem to not be able to own up to it, so they come up with "explanations" to justify things they buy when deep down it's purely for fashion. Women also maybe can differentiate between jewelry/purses and cameras/cases better than guy's
likea Posted July 1, 2008 Share #36 Posted July 1, 2008 Kenneth, there is only one answer - the beautiful products produced by Luigi. Leicatime Luigi Crescenzi : leica cameras leica compur mp elmar 250 reporter leicavit DON'T be put off by the terrible website - Luigi is a true gentleman and a craftsman. I have two of his cases, one for my IIIc and one for my M2. They are beautifully made, and fit like a glove. In the UK at least, Luigi threw in a leather neck-strap each time I bought from him, and a Leica key-ring. Unless he is on holiday, dispatch is very fast - same week in each instance for me, the second time in the second week in December! Here's a picture of my M2 in it's natural habitat and appropriately enrobed: Regards, Bill Gentleman? Maybe. Literate? Not so much. "It's" is an abbreviation for "it is". The possessive form is "its", as in "in its natural habitat." Nice photo; nasty grammar.
stunsworth Posted July 2, 2008 Share #37 Posted July 2, 2008 If you are going to start picking on grammatical errors then you'll be posting messages by the hundred. Postings on forums are like postcards, they are written quickly and often without a close review before posting. I have seen much worse - and consistent - gaffes, but haven't commented. For example the word 'there' used in three different ways. As 'there' (correctly), as 'their', and even as 'there are'.

Fipsy Posted July 2, 2008 Share #40 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi! I have there one questions about half cases made of leather. I just bought one of them from leicatime for my M6 TTL. Do you keep your cameras all the time in the cases or only when you go out to take pictures with them? Can make the leather any damage to the camera, when you let the camera in the case all the time, even if it is at home laying in the closet. Thank you very much!
