Advertisement Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Hi jmr, Take a look here Four on the Irwell. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
elansprint72 Posted June 29, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 29, 2006 River Irwell, home of the oldest inter-varsity boat race, eat your hearts out Oxbridge! I remember when the river was so polluted, you could walk across it. Nice reflections, you could crop this image several ways to make totally different shots. Cheers, Pete. andybarton Posted June 29, 2006 Share #3 Posted June 29, 2006 I used to walk on the Lowry side here every day going to the office. (This building is also home of famous footballers ) Very nice light here. (What camera, John ?) (The vacant plot immediately behind where you were standing is going to get another 50 storey apartment block a la Beetham Tower... Pete - it crops really well just below where the buildings meet the water.
wda Posted June 29, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 29, 2006 John, I have to say that I prefer the reflections to the buildings. I would go for a trim, perhaps keeping just a hint of the lower buildings. David
jmr Posted June 29, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted June 29, 2006 Pete, Andy, I considered several crops before deciding to leave it as it is! It was taken with a Digilux 2 as part of a "one hour photo" contest - loosely modelled on the ones held on the forum - with friends and colleagues. Thanks for commenting. pauledell Posted December 8, 2011 Share #8 Posted December 8, 2011 Pete, Andy, I considered several crops before deciding to leave it as it is! John, I have looked at this for ways of modifying it by cropping and have come to the same conclusion as you have. Leave it as it is. A wonderful shot with the mystical reflections, great colors and clarity. Paul
Greywolf Posted December 8, 2011 Share #9 Posted December 8, 2011 Excellent. Who was it who recalled walking down to the Irwell with his uncle and watching it burst into flames? Times have changed

jmr Posted December 21, 2011 Author Share #11 Posted December 21, 2011 Pete, what a surprise to see one of my old shots reappear on the forum. These days I use a Fujifilm X100, which I rather like, so am unavailable for postings, snapshots or otherwise

jmr Posted December 23, 2011 Author Share #13 Posted December 23, 2011 I can doubtless make myself available for a beer in the new year without undue difficulties. Who knows, some of the old Manchester Leica crew may care to come along too
