gvaliquette Posted July 11, 2008 Share #21 Posted July 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Another R lens question: 80 Summilux or 90 Summicron? The 90 would basically duplicate my M 90, while the 80 would give me an extra stop and probably a different character. Any thoughts? The APO-Summicron-M ASPH and the APO-Summicron-R ASPH are optically identical. I have the 80 Summilux-R and I love it, but I have neither APO-Summicron. The 80 Summilux has a very unique "look". JBA Posted July 12, 2008 Share #22 Posted July 12, 2008 The APO-Summicron-M ASPH and the APO-Summicron-R ASPH are optically identical. Guy I'm leaning toward the 80 Summilux in spite of the added expense over the 90 Summicron. A friend opines that the 80 is very close in focal length to the 60 macro, but my thought is that the characters of these lenses will be sufficiently different to justify having them both rather than duplicating my 90 M lens. JBA Posted July 16, 2008 Share #23 Posted July 16, 2008 Another question: What's the practical difference between the 180 3.4 Apo and the 180 2.8? My thinking is that I'd prefer the Apo, but is there a real, appreciable difference between these two lenses in terms of sharpness or color rendering? fernando_b Posted July 16, 2008 Share #24 Posted July 16, 2008 JBA, the actual 180/2.8 is APO. Fernando.
