Yes I realize that..in fact most species that are "purer strain" do die..the very rare species found by renound English Botanist and artist Mageret Mee...found a very rare Moonflower.....Selenicereus Wittii ..of the same genetic strain as yours..but very rare..she found it on the Rio Negro in the Amazon...the bloom last only for the duration of the night and only blooms at night.

 

 

The front of her webpage features her with this remarkable flower..of course this one is white.

I also suggest you look at the amazing rare video clip of her describing the flower and drawing it in the middle of the night..... just seeing one my hero's( she was a real courageous pioneer) brings up alot of emotion for me. People have no idea what she has done for Amazon awareness...

 

Oddly and sadly after spending nearly 25 years braving all the perils of the Amazon, she was killed in an autombile accident in England.... a tremendous loss to all us avid botanists.
