Do you know Ffordes?

I've bought several items from them and would do so again.

I bought a Rolleiflex from them last year and when it arrived there was no yellow filter as advertised. I called them and they despatched a replacement filter the same day.

I can highly recommend them. I bought a lens from ffordes recently and was very satisfied.

- prices are, in my opinion no give-away, but also not shameless

- good items, honest ratings, I would trust them for expensive stuff

- know Leica very well

- professional, straightforward communication

- fast shipping

as far as I know, they have been in business selling Leica for over 50 years.

I have no personal interest in recommending them, just to be clear.

If you talk to Steve Byford by any chance, feel free to say hello from Guru in Switzerland.

Regards, G.

I've bought and sold many things through them - new and secondhand:

They are very reputable - though occasionally things do not get accurately described, which I'm putting down to new staff inexperience.

On the occasions I've not been happy, even minor things like a slightly wobbly grip on a M motor, I've received a full refund without quibble ... though I've only got the postage refunded in gross cases.

The shop is a sight to see - shelf after shelf, bowed with the weight of hundreds of camera and lenses - Leicas, Hasselblads, Nikons ... etc.

It's only a 3 hour drive for me to get to the shop - my nearest Leica dealer !

I've been using Ffordes for several years, both to buy from and to sell on my behalf. They are always very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They're also my nearest Leica dealer - two and a half hours away!

Bought an MP from them, wanted the ex-dem but was pointed to a 2nd hand model (still with 3 years passport) that was less beaten up and cheaper! Can't fault service like that, although it effectively twisted my arm into springing for an ex-dem elmarit!

I was at Ffordes just over a week ago and bought a CV 35/2.5 from them, trading in a couple of items in part-exchange.

They are friendly, helpful and carry a huge stock of new and secondhand Leica gear. I have no hesitation in recommending them. They also run a very efficient mail order service.

The craft centre on the lower floor of the former chapel that they occupy does good coffee, snacks and meals... If you find yourself anywhere in the Inverness area, they are well worth visiting.

Mail order service is good and they are proactive in resolving problems with second hand stuff in my experience. I bought a Hasselblad 503CX from them some time ago which developed problems within the warranty period. They fixed it without question.

On a slightly negative note, the camera was not quite in as good condition as described on their website when I received it, but that could be subjective. I would certainly deal with them again.
