Ayrton's First Real Office

I remember watching him live at Brands Hatch (still got the T shirt) and then that amazing drive at Monaco in the rain on TV. Here's the car that launched his F1 career - the Toleman Hart. It's at Tom Wheatcroft's museum in Donington along with many other of his cars. I felt almost emotional seeing this car after 25 years. I've got some shots of it at Brands that year somewhere. I must dig them out.

I remember a wild kid racing at Oulton in Formula Ford, his racing-name in those days was Ayrton Da Silva (sp?), which I think was his Mother's maiden name. He was pretty useless; no sense of direction or speed, never thought that he would amount to much. ;)

Good set of evocative images. :)
