Advertisement Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Hi JHAG, Take a look here Sushi Fix. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Perspectics Posted May 16, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted May 16, 2008 I like the atmosphere and definitely the smile! Very nice picture, IMHO! Since I'm an amateur I'd like to hear your opinion about the back-light "problem" in this picture. I am often faced with pictures where the main subject "drowns" in the overall contrast of the picture. In many cases this happens because of back-light. In your photo I think the face is still too dark, but if you lighten it up, the pic won't look as good. Obviously, HDR would help, but again, what are your professional opinions on this? TIA, Claus
JHAG Posted May 16, 2008 Author Share #3 Â Posted May 16, 2008 To avoid dominant lighting problem (with backlighting or other source), you have to give the camera's meter a medium light source. Here, I locked the meter (on the M7 or M8, it's when the second red dot appears in your VF) on a medium lit area around the wall. Regarding the face, it's a bit too dark, but it's true to life (it was in reality : nightshot). Nevertheless, on the original, on my screen, it's better lit. I never can get the same values when uploading pics here. Image had very low PS here : only tweaking with saturation a bit. Hope it helps.

PS: Regarding your statement "I never can get the same values when uploading pics here." I mean to say that I had the same problem until I started exporting with sRGB colorspace. (I don't mean to try to educate you!!! It just fixed my problem)
JHAG Posted May 16, 2008 Author Share #5  Posted May 16, 2008 Indeed, sRGB helps usually a bit, but not entirely (sRGB gives me artefacts which are definitely not there in the original…). Thx to you.
