Saloti Posted May 22, 2008 Share #61 Posted May 22, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) US Prices of Leica Lenses are going up July 1. Curiously, the M8 Price will remain stable. The 21 Elmarit is will be $4,395, the 24 will be $3,995.00, the 28 Summicron will be $3,995.00, the 35 Summicron will $2,995.00, the 50 Summilux will be $3,695.00. There might be several reasons for the M8 price not to go up: Apparently one of the former CEO´s (Lee) bigger mistakes was the incredible price increase of the M8 body at the end of last year. This price increase has lead to a substantial decrease in M8 sales. A very intelligent measure if at the same time the same management intends to boost lens sales with the new Summicron series. How do you sell lenses if nobody buys your body? Interesting logic which failed at the end of the day... Another price increase would have dramatic consequences for Leica. Also Leica will come with some new stuff around the M8, not the best time for price increases neither...
