Torrential downpour at 1600 hours put a crimp in track preparations, but the teams continued to work diligently in their garages preparing for Sunday's United States GP.

Honda were at their location up near the head of the pitlane, proudly displaying Takumo Sato's helmet above the entry; McLaren felt secure with these black panels hiding their latest scheme, no doubt plotting much devilry for the Spaniard and Schumy; BMW/Sauber hard at work, seeming oblivious to the hail and buckets that fell shortly before; things are buttoned up tightly at Williams as well; and ToroRosso was preparing a wild-looking red paint scheme for Speed's car that looked in the reflection from the damp to be bleeding off the panels and onto the pit road!

I'll try to bring home some photos of the fans, and the drivers, tomorrow.

Cheers!

Allan - glad to see you're there - I'll be watching on TV!

I know the mechanics are working hard in those garages, but your photos give a real feeling of the calm before the storm. Looking forward to seeing some from the race itself.

best

Ade
