Advertisement Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Hi woodda, Take a look here Photokina 2008. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LUF Admin Posted May 5, 2008 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2008 photokina 2006 we had a get together on the Leica stand and met in the evening in a restaurant not too far away from the Cologne fair. If you know when you come to Cologne please tell us (German members, moderators and me) - per haps we can organize an international mini meeting. Best regards from Bonn Andreas
usefeet Posted May 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 7, 2008 I attended on that occasion, and it was enjoyable meeting the local enthusiasts for dinner. (In fact my Lieca driver, Wolfgang, dropped Andreas home). William
wlaidlaw Posted June 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted June 1, 2008 I am planning to be at Photokina again this year but this time I am not going to stay quite as far away, if I can get nearer accommodation (left it too late in 2006). Not sure of my dates yet. Wilson
stevelap Posted July 7, 2008 Share #5 Posted July 7, 2008 What are your thoughts on the best day(s) to attend? Are major announcements likely to be on any particular day, for example.
rohi Posted July 7, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 7, 2008 I think, the best day should be Tuesday, September 23th. The first official day of the Photokina. Then the members of the exibitors are fresh and gently. At the weekend there are too many visitors for good meetings... Regards, Robert
stevelap Posted July 7, 2008 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Robert, I'd certainly agree that going to exhibitions on a weekend is usually not a good idea.
spylaw4 Posted July 7, 2008 Share #8 Posted July 7, 2008 I'll be there on the 25th (Thursday) - day trip only.
Rolo Posted July 8, 2008 Share #9 Posted July 8, 2008 What are your thoughts on the best day(s) to attend? Obviously the first day. Then you'll be first to handle the all new P Range SLR c/w full AF lens system. P stands for 'Pro'. Please write a review for us.
stevelap Posted July 9, 2008 Share #10 Posted July 9, 2008 Obviously the first day. Then you'll be first to handle the all new P Range SLR c/w full AF lens system. P stands for 'Pro'. Please write a review for us. I usually avoid day one at exhibitions because of the first day crowds, likewise weekends for a similar reason, so I suppose that means Wednesday, Thursday or Friday if I decide to go. I'm sure someone from the forum will be there at the opening though, to report on 'the news as it happens' Perhaps Leica will put out a press release immediately before the show, giving us a hint of what, if any, announcements we might expect. stevelap Posted August 11, 2008 Share #11 Posted August 11, 2008 Have many people firmed up their plans yet? What seems to be the most popular day I wonder. Any suggestions for convenient hotels in the vicinity by the way? I can view the list on the exhibition website, but personal recommendations and local knowledge are usually very helpful. andybarton Posted August 11, 2008 Share #12 Posted August 11, 2008 I might have been tempted to go on the Thursday, if travel from the NW of England had been feasible. Unfortunately, it isn't...

Steve, I have currently booked for the Sunday but may add Saturday as well. Has anyone a good suggestion for a B&B not too far from Köln? I am going to stay Saturday night anyway as I am driving back from Provence to the UK. I would have a free spare seat back to the UK on Sunday evening if anyone interested. I would be catching a late tunnel crossing. Wilson
