Advertisement Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Hi woodda, Take a look here Unbelievable Nikon D3 prices. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted April 18, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2008 Am I the only person on this forum getting sick to death of hearing about the Nikon D3? Comparisons with Leica cameras I can take, but for sales information can I suggest you either ask on a Nikon forum or look at one of the seller rating sites. One tip, I know nothing about the sellers you mention, but in general if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

woodda Posted April 18, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted April 18, 2008 Thanks for the reply. I do understand your thoughts but I was under the impression that yes this is a Leica forum but we are a community I would like to think who can discuss things other than Leica. We certianly would if we met for a Leica meeting. Thanks for your understanding and as you say I have also posted elsewhere as you would expect Best
jacksparrow Posted April 18, 2008 Share #5 Posted April 18, 2008 Canfred, it's a reasonable question since the prices seem too good to be true. I am concerned also by the fact that it is a .org webpage, not .com, plus the webpage seems like something I could set-up in less than an hour of copy/paste from other sources. If you try to get some information in "About us" it's just some crap about their concept of shop, but no address, no phone number... "Contact Us" is just a web-form?? again, where's the REAL contact info? can you fid where this is even located? I wouldn't buy from them, but if you do and things don't go south, just let us know! andybarton Posted April 18, 2008 Share #6 Posted April 18, 2008 Am I the only person on this forum getting sick to death of hearing about the Nikon D3? No. But you'll no doubt be hearing a lot about this rumoured new Sony later in the year too. Let's hope that the Nikonians and the Canonistas have the R10 to discuss too... bill Posted April 18, 2008 Share #7 Posted April 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am I the only person on this forum getting sick to death of hearing about the Nikon D3? Nope. Thinking of starting a thread about the E-1 for balance. Oh - hang on - that would be irrelevant. Regards, Bill
marknorton Posted April 18, 2008 Share #8 Posted April 18, 2008 Well, I suppose we like to talk about what's new and works; that said there's a glitch with the new D3 firmware, but browse it with a hex editor and you see a reference to a D3x, 24.4MP, 6048*4032 pixels. Likely to be the star of Nikon's stand at Photokina. Let's all hope Leica have something to shout about too.
andybarton Posted April 18, 2008 Share #9 Posted April 18, 2008 It seems that there is a perception that Leica managers spend all their time browsing internet forums. If enough references are made to the D3 or someother new bit of kit from Japan, they will then think "Hey, we'd better do something like this too" I don't think that it works like that... Kasimir Posted April 18, 2008 Share #10 Posted April 18, 2008 Have a look at: Nikon D3 camerabody: € 1600, zuivere koffie? - Belgiumdigital forum - Digitale fotografie I don't know what "Google Checkout protection " is, but if it works as described it seems good to me. Any comments?
jaapv Posted April 18, 2008 Share #11 Posted April 18, 2008 The best post in that thread is: "wait a minute - I just bought a D3 in Nigeria for 1000 $ and it should be here in two days"..... :D
stunsworth Posted April 18, 2008 Share #12 Posted April 18, 2008 Any comments? Scam, scam, scam. They know that a European is unlikely to collect in person - would make it almost as expensive as buying in Europe - and are relying on idiots to send them the money instead and wait for delivery. Which of course coud be a long wait. If you do say you'll collect in person I'm guessing that they'll mysteriously have no stock and advise you not to travel. Google checkout protection? Do Google get involved in insuring purchases? I've never heard of it if they do. Send me 1000 Euros instead. You're just as likely to get a D3, and it'll cost you less. bill Posted April 18, 2008 Share #13 Posted April 18, 2008 Send me 1000 Euros instead. You're just as likely to get a D3, and it'll cost you less. Gosh Steve! That sounds too good to be true! I'll send you cash, in small, untraceable notes. I don't want to collect in person - too much of a faff. Let me know when you are sending me my new D3. No need to go to the expense of insured post - what could go wrong, eh? Regarrds, Bill

chkphoto Posted April 18, 2008 Share #20 Posted April 18, 2008 At the very least, when you guys are posting about the Nikon D3, please indicate "Nikon" in the subject line. As a Leica "D3" owner, I would rather not spend time reading postings only to find out it is the Nikon you all are talking about and not the Leica. Thanks for your consideration.
