lct Posted April 2, 2016 Share #21 Posted April 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) [...] havin only the choice of 75 and 90 i'd go for the 90. the 75 doesnt even show a different frame to the 50 on the M8. that would be hard to keep in mind in day-to-day use and might result in misframing once in a while. The 75 does show a different frame to the 50 actually. 75 and 90 are easier to misframe IMO. Welcome, dear visitor! arno_nyhm Posted April 2, 2016 Share #22 Posted April 2, 2016 my M8 shows the 50 frame together with the 75 frame. and that should be this way on all M-cameras. of course the 75 frame ist different to the 50 frame. but they are shown both on 50 AND 75-lenses. this shows that even Leica themselves did think of the 75 focal length as an alternative to the 50 and not as a real difference. lct Posted April 3, 2016 Share #23 Posted April 3, 2016 This simply shows that Leica needed 75mm framelines for its Summilux 75 if you ask me. The M4-2 had only 35/135, 50 and 90 framelines then so when Leica added 28 and 75 for the M4-P, the two new pairs were 28/90 and 50/75. I would have preferred 28/75 and 50/90 personally but this is another story.
arno_nyhm Posted April 3, 2016 Share #24 Posted April 3, 2016 there already was the 50 and the 90 lens with different frames showing for a long time, when the 75 showed up. that is why the 50 and 90 frames could not be paired anymore. no matter what you might have preferred. lct Posted April 3, 2016 Share #25 Posted April 3, 2016 Not sure what you're trying to demonstrate but 50 & 90 framelines were not paired in the M4-2. The only paired framelines were 35/135 then.
