Panier à salade as a van is used only in that context. Otherwise this very popular Citroën van was familiarly called “Tub Citroën”, referring to the tube-like aspect of its body made of corrugated steel. I have driven some in the past, like that day when we moved in 1977 (it’s not me on the picture, but a friend who helped us).
