vertekijker Posted April 3, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) A question I should have asked a loooooong time ago, but didn't.....When I want to bring a digital picture that I want to submit to the forum, to the required size, I use some sort of 'hit-and-miss' method in Photoshop till I get it right. Image size reducing, then saving at a lower quality, some more image size reducing, and a repeat of these steps if necessary, till I finally get to the permitted 244k. I am not that knowledgeable about Photoshop and was wondering if there are less time-consuming ways of proceding? How do you guys do this? jaapv Posted April 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2008 When I am lazy, I use the action Jack Flesher sells at DPI. When alert, I convert to 8-bits, set colour to sRGB, reduce size to 900 px wide, and run USM between 25 and 75 % at radius 0.4 threshold 0, then save as jPEG, quality to taste, baseline as needed. johnwolf Posted April 3, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 3, 2008 Why not use File > Save for Web? Click the 2-Up tab at the top so you can see before and after images. Then adjust the Quality on the right until the size is what you want. You can see the file size at the bottom of the right-hand panel. mhoersch Posted April 3, 2008 Share #5 Posted April 3, 2008 I resize to 800px wide and save as JPG in Photoshop CS3, with quality set to medium (7), nothing else.
